Looks like the prices are firming up for the KILO HORSE. APMEX has them for sale at around 663.00. The Goat is around 582.00 (for 1). I'm happy. I have more than a few. http://www.apmex.com/product/78053/2014-australia-1-kilo-silver-lunar-horse-bu-sii http://www.apmex.com/product/84365/2015-australia-1-kilo-silver-lunar-goat-bu
None of my 45 horse kilos have those dreaded spots. They are vacuumed sealed, and stored away in a storage facility under good care. I'm hoping when I go coral them in 20 years, they'll still be in mint condition.
unless APMEX and others stocked up, I highly doubt you'll see many of these in a couple years...driving up price And it stops in 2019. Just like you don't see too many of the older issues, even though 'technically' the declared mintage won't end until 2019. I don't agree with those who 'fear monger' about, 'oh, but the declared mintage won't be for another 4 years...' that's true, but you still won't be able to find these anywhere near these prices...I've rolled the dice accordingly...let's see how it plays out. )
Horses were selling for $677AUD back in November 2014. Ausssie exchange rate was 0.8799 What will be the price of silver at the end of the Lunar series? Now where's that crystal ball? Out of the Petri dish!
The price for the BU kilo's in 2019 will be a combination of spot silver at the time of series close and mintage totals, and ultimately...demand. While it's true that none of us here have that spot price crystal ball, it's my guess that silver will rebound by then and you probably won't find the kilo Lunar's for less than you will find them now. No guarantee, just a gut feeling. .
I've made more money and better investments out of so called "unlimited" production coins than some of the known limited number. Reason being is that everyone chases the limited edition initially because it is by definition limited. This then removes the demand (and therefore limits the production) of the unlimited. That is until a year or two later when the production is closed and people want to complete the sets. Now they are chasing a far more limited number of coins than the limited edition. The best example is the 2008 Perth Mint mouse. The "limited" edition 1oz is still selling for between $40 and $70 each. The 5oz coin is fetching upwards of about $1000 because it's unlimited mintage stretched to 3005 coins total. I agree with Bullion Baron in that the production is still open so it could conceivably be produced in large numbers. I think the reality will be different and in the long run this coin may prove to be a good investment irrespective of the price of silver. Remember - Nirvana in the coin/bullion investing world is buying a coin for bullion value and selling it for numismatic value! malachii
Good lucky trying to find the horse kilos once APMEX runs dry. I don't think these will be as easy to find as many think. Glad I loaded up far below the 600 number.
yes indeed my friend, only a few years to go. for tiger, ox, rabbit, snake, dragon...now horse and goat. These can be minted any time apparently. Yet, the older issues are very, very hard to find. I believe the same will happen with the horse, even though there are a few years to go. I've paced my bets accordingly, and I believe the horses will be a winner. We shall see.
The horses are bolting out of their stables! Seems like APMEX is trying to clear stocks. APMEX having a 4hr fire sale on their 5oz and kilo horses. 5oz going for 100 USD and kilo horses for 560 USD! http://www.apmex.com/category/90174...nar-horses?utm_campaign=06122015category90174
dang, i keep looking for the deal for those horses, and i wonder if that was the fire sale to get rid of all inventory to get ready for the monkey? I wonder if now, we'll start to see a rise in price on those horses, since they will be carrying massive amounts of them, just like the other issues in the series?? I hope so.
Germany still has a lot of kilo lunars in stock, and I believe dealers can easily place more orders for them from Perth Mint. I think we will only see proper price increases once the series is over and reminting stops.
