Hi everyone. Proper etiquette dictates an introduction. I've been a stacker for a few years now, mostly silver along with an affinity for gold (mostly Buffalo's). My friend Justfishin said this was a great place to learn about Pandas, of which I have a growing interest. I know, why not collect cars because the rare ones cost about the same (minus the upkeep). I'm looking forward to reading through the forums and expanding my knowledge. This is a new Panda that arrived today. http://img534.imageshack.us/img534/8295/1339723258974.jpg I'm looking forward to getting to know people here. Regards, Icarus
Thank you Ladybird. I see youre in Scotland. I spent a few days in Lockerbe after PanAm 103. I had a few friends on the flight and the people in the town were some of the nicest I've met in all my travels. I returned when the memorial opened and the locals welcomed me with open arms. Why that evil bomber was set free I'll never know but there is a special place in hades for him and his like. Kudos to you and your countrymen.
Welcome to the site and great to see the membership is growing around the world A big hello and welcome from downunder a stacker from New Zealand ...........come and visit
Welcome! Due to the American stereotype we should probably tell you not to start talking about stacking guns or ammo! Pandas...hope you have deep pockets, those guys are a sub group of a sub group, no one outside can understand how anyone could pay so much for 1oz. Prepare to have your beliefs tested!
E Well, I would never tell anyone I stack guns and ammo, I'll just let them find out for themselves. Though I am in Texas I'm not a Johny Get Your Gun type, but have been known to burn some powder now and then. Yeah, I have Justfishin to blame for all the Pandas. I don't know why I do it either, pay so much for an ounce...but it's fun. I guess after I realized that collecting Britannia's wasn't that difficult or potentially lucrative I needed a greater fiscal policy challenge Thanks for all the Welcomes everyone. Friendly crowd here. Now I'll start looking to do some deals I suppose. Cheers
I heard that the IRS is now coming after vintage and collectible car owners and demanding member lists from clubs so as to be able to impose some kind of capital gains tax because the cars have increased in value over the years? I bet they won't give a refund in the value of the car declines! Welcome to the forum.
They're too late ,the bottom has fallen out of the classic car market ,it's suffering badly like everyone else . It's a buyers market out there
A friend of mine restores old Rolls Royce's in the mid west. He said exactly the same thing...that the bottom has fallen out on vintage cars. He agrees that it's a buyers market but just like the major corporations here in the US, the top 1% are simply sitting on their cash. They're not buying ANYTHING because of all the uncertainty out there and the fiscal cliff we are headed towards. Can't say I blame them one bit with the tax structure and the wealthy paying more than their fair share. I've never seen a job created by a poor person. The revenue in the US isn't the problem, it's the spending IMHO. I bought some vintage FRN's from a friend who stumbled onto a hoard recently (low serial, consecutive, uncirculated, red star, blue star notes etc...). When the wife asked why, my response was simple; we are seeing the end of the mighty US dollar in the coming years. Why not grab a piece of the Berlin Wall?
I drink with the aircoolled mafia on a Thursday night ,Greg's been restoring early Porsche 356's & dealing in parts for over 40 years . He says this is the worst it's ever been ,worse than the " recession we had to have " in the 80's Cars that would have sold for $150k 2 years ago can't sell for $50k The Jaguar wreckers I used to work for have stopped wrecking cars & are just importing parts ,same goes for my mate the Veewee wrecker up the road from me . Every man & his dog is wrecking cars from home & flogging it on fleebay
