    Hi all.

I AM currently in Istanbul, where there are many many bullion shops. In talking 10-20 within walking distance from me.
The thing is, its only Istanbul refinery gold. Would this hamper resale as most of it is only. 995gold. And the silver is 999 but only comes in grams, no toz. I am thinking Of buying some as it is very close to spot. Problem is, I still have 6weeks of travelling to do, so I can't buy heaps of silver for weight issues.

What are your thoughts? Should I stay away from Istanbul gold and silver?

I have some IGR bars and don't expect any potential problems if I decide to sell. Simple to calculate the AGW and then price it accordingly. Gold is gold etc and if it's very close to this current spot, go bananas!

Silver measured in grams is also nothing to be worried about, big mints like PAMP and Geiger produce silver bullion using the metric system. Something the old fogies everyone is slowly becoming more accustomed to.

I'd stick with gold if you're panning on hauling metal around with you for the next 6 weeks

Would you mind picking me up a 5kg gold bar? I'm in Sydney too so it shouldn't be a problem.

    Yeh sure, no worries. lol.
On that note, I had a stopover in Dubai, and you could by 1kg suisse bars over the counter in duty free, as well as the rest if the suisse range and a bit of Perth mint, 1kg Perth mint coin. Kangaroo??, but was selling over 1600an oz and no silver was there. Quite a few people bought some ftactional stuff while I was having a browse

$50K for 1kg gold in a single transaction. There's stacking, and there's STACKING.

Ill see you in a few weeks ;)

995 gold is fine (no pun intended) even if someone wants to discount you the 0.004 non-spot gold content you're still getting excellent prices in istanbul.

why are you there? I am moving there in a few weeks.

I AM over here for anzac day. Departing on the 26th to London for a holiday.. Its an amazing city, I don't really want to leave, but i think the fiance would have something to say about that.

I think the price was 86Lira per Gram gold, and 1.4Lira per Gram silver. Thats what they had their display price as outside their shop, along with all the buy sell foreign currencys.
