This thing was stuck to the side of a pewter cup and figured most likely it was plastic, but I pryed it off anyway just in case. I cut through it to see if it was just painted plastic or another base metal under the gold color, but its the gold color all the way through. It feels too heavy to be plastic. I know that if its solid 24k then its only worth about $30, but even at 18k its worth $22, in which case a quick stop at a cash-4-gold should yield atleast $10. Here are the specs on it... 0.76 grams 0.024 ozT 15mm long 11mm wide 2mm thick The side that people see is the polished side showing in the picture. The backside isnt polished but its pretty much the same color.
Most likely not.. I would chuck it Pewter mugs are not collectable.. They are not even gifted like they were so are are no longer in demand or favour with investors Not that likely pure gold was added even if its melt value makes it realitisti. By pur calculations.. Back then they used gold sparingly like they do today
I wouldn't have cut it. It's brutal. It would have a higher value intact, someone could have bought it at a higher price. You could get a gold detector and see how much gold it has. It cannot be 24 k, it must be some alloy. 24 k would be pure and too soft.
