Check-out the Perth Mint site Is this normal - the purchase price seems to be different for the 2015 1oz Kook ( $ 30.20) , Koala ( $31.22) , Goat ( $ 34.22)
Wow !!! a $4 premium on the Goat (over the Kook/Koala) and volume breaks look pretty thin as well - not that you can order more than 20 ? For 20 the price is a few cents less at $33.97 that is $13 over spot (spot was $20.97 when the PM closed at 5pm on Friday). That is a hefty premium over spot - is that normal for a 1oz bullion coin ?
If I remember correctly, last year the mint was selling the Horse $36 when spot was $26, that's a $10 premium What justifies a 50% premium increase for a lunar year known to be less popular than previous year ??
Basic business practice I would guess. Every year they sell out of the 1oz pretty quick, keep bumping up the premium to take in a bucket load of extra $'s for no extra effort.
Hi Sammy , not many going to the launch (no incentive to buy on the day) Im sure we will meet - I will introduce myself.
It is disappointing that the mint has decided to increase prices. Certainly going to impact sales at the PM shop. As usual the SS members who support the PM by going to these launches get hit with these prices.
Not cost effective, if taking a day off work with limit of 20 per person. With the price increase from the manufacturer
I haven't checked the prices on perthmintbullion website for quite a while but those figures don't look right. The market is closed for trading and I'd be surprised if the prices weren't changed come Monday morning before trading begins.
Maybe the Perth Mint is not interested in retail sales (increasing the the premium and imposing maximum 20 coin purchase) and prefers to sell thru overseas distributors.
those price are correct and current, if spot moves those prices will move with spot, why not check for yourself.
