Calling out more experienced decimal coin peeps for advice. Is this a 2000 one dollar / ten cent mule coin? I know it can be hard to grade by photos but thoughts on grade and value. Thanks.
I am no expert but judging by the photo I would say that yes it is. It has a double rim on the Queen's head side where it was mistakenly struck by a 10 cent die. I think in that condition they go for $300 to $500. Did you find it in your change??
No I didn't find in change but I will certainly be on a look out for them. Got it as part of a swap for a Panda coin.
Yes it is a 2000 Mob of Roos $1 Mule - you may get it away on eBay for a minimum $500 however I'd suggest you seek out a $1 & 10c proof from the same year and get 'em multi-slabbed & graded for a few bucks with NGC to double the value
Great suggestion. Most of slabbed 2000 mules have been PCGSed. Have to check whether NGC recognize the mule.
There's one of these selling on eBay right now BIN $4k (!), but I wanted to have my mule presented beside proofs - you can get a $1 2000 proof for around $40-50 and the 10c 2000 proof for $25-30 so I've copied the layout in the multi-slab - should be back from Sarasota in about 3 weeks http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2000-AUS...LAB-NGC-AU55-1-AND-10c-MINT-SET-/151024013552
I have acquired a higher grade coin so the above is currently for sale on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=281357804836&ssPageName=ADME:L:LCA:AU:1123
