0 oz of silver in my stack, and have watched the price since it was 35 dollars. Should I start buying? And which bars are good to buy with 2k?

Yes. 10oz bars. Perth Mint, Scottsdale or NTR are a good start and easy to find in Australia.

+1 to Andy's comment. Go with Perth Mint and/or Scottsdale 10oz bars. Maybe throw in a roll of kooks for variety :)

Wait for another 2weeks before going all in, IMO

But don't hold back if you feel that we have hit the bottom

    Also +1 on Andys comments.

10oz and below are easy to liquidate which means you can easily flog off later privately on ebay at the spot price. Whereas with a 100oz bar theres a good chance that you may get less than spot price when you sell it off, especially to a dealer.

Also beware that 2013 kooks are no longer being minted (500k run) so dealers have placed an extra hefty premium on top (50%+) compared to the equivalent Koala series coin. Personally i don't see the value in that premium as they are not proper numismatic coin and with resale most dealers offer the same spot price for both of them which means i would rather stick to the cheaper to buy Koala.

Also the Perth mint coins come in handy plastic cases and shrink wrapped in 20 lots which i personally love, as it keeps the natural tarnishing from air exposure to a minimum.

Good post except for the rubbish I have highlighted.

Gold Stackers as we speak are selling 2013 kooks for $29.95 and koalas for $28.95.

How is a $1 price increase an "extra hefty premium on top (50%+)"?

Otherwise you're right, buy the koalas....cuter and cheaper. ;)

hee hee - tell me about it. I'm getting depressed.
Yes Ivan - definately a good time to buy imoas long as you aren't in it for a quick turn around. The silver market can be too fickle to do that.

I don't wish to be mean however it might help to just have a look around first and fact check before you try and call someone out. I do try and speak truthfully and impartially from my own experience no matter how much of an opinionated as*hole i can be :p

Firstly Perth mint has limited the Kook run to 500k back in April. Read it directly here from the mints blog.

    http://www.perthmintbullion.com/au/...n_Kookaburra_Mintage_Declared_At_500_000.aspx

Secondly go look around at some other PM dealers and find out if they actually do have kooks, i tried to buy recently at one sydney dealer and was told they were out of stock yet their website didn't reflect this and going off Goldstackers website it seems to be out of date by a least a couple of months. So then the dealers who have stock are charging a premium, the worst i have seen is KJC at 50% . Screencapped below.

Thats a pretty damn nice markup

You took your bit out about Gold Stackers website being a couple of months out of date.

Maybe check your stuff a bit first. ;) Must suck to live in Syd .

Very selective cropping of your screenshot, Numismatist!

Note that the price drops significantly if you buy a roll of 20 (or more) ...

The Goldstackers webpage at the bottom still says *Only 1,000,000 1oz coins will be released. No mintage limit applies to 1 kilo and 10oz coins*

We know since April that ain't the case.

Anyway i'll stick to adding to my stack of cheaper koalas regardless of any kind of markup :) Though might I throw in some Mexican libertads this year, fondling these coins i find is rather titillating ;)

But what if i only want 10? how would i know how many coins someone wishes to purchase.

Anyway its still a 50% markup whichever way you look at it. ;)

Getting a liking for large koalas lately. :)

Goldstackers has them well priced and in stock (that's 3 coffees you owe me GP). Their blurb might be out of date, but their prices are pretty spot on. :)

If you only want 10, buy them from a dealer that offers better prices for lower quantities!

I agree - KJC's pricing on less than 20 is steep, and would certainly persuade me to look elsewhere if I were buying.

Start with buying a coin that you like...and get the best price over spot available. Also, if you purchase more, you'll save on spot and/or shipping costs.

at sub $20...it's just smart. You may "lose" value short term...but, then you can cost average even lower.

Plus, coins are fun to play with...and easy to sell one's and two'sies if needed.

    Good luck with your purchase!!

I honestly think KJC has made an error in pricing those. All their other coins have the usual volume break at 20/25 coins of a few dollars, but this one is way out of whack. Someone may have just entered it in wrong?

There is another dealer (also site sponsor) who is currently at 28.96 per coin or koalas for 26.81 per coin, there is price breaks but can't be bothered writing them all down

  20. In a nutshell, yes! Now's the time to buy and I have a very strong feeling the bottom has arrived.
Not based on any kind of expertise on my part, just observations and a gut feeling (wishful thinking perhaps) but I feel we are in for another small dip toward the end of this week followed by a steady recovery.
