Re apple prices in Australia, it's true that apple has historically charged exorbitant prices here. I know a number of people who flew to Hawaii to buy an apple laptop a few years ago because the savings paid for their holiday.

the fact that China sells 'absolute rubbish at the bottom' at all, and that there is a 'fake goods market', pretty much defeats any pseudo moral posturing in the above statement.

There is no 'pseudo moral posturing' just telling you how it is. If you don't like it, don't buy it, and if you do, don't cry about it, be responsible for your own decisions.

Apple Australia are unimpressive to put it lightly.

Yes, much like italian olive oils, we get sent the dregs here quite often, and we don't even realise the we are receiving the B stock stuff that no-one wants overseas. I was always fascinated at how Mercedes Benz Australia could sell bottom of the range cars here for stupid prices by creating a perception that any Mercedes is a luxury car.

China has a ways to go with car production though, there are crash test videos on youtube of Chinese cars, and they are horrifying. The passenger cabin is the first thing that crushes and the steering column is like harpoon.

    Just a few quick points...

Those great wall trucks are made of metal coloured tissue paper! They shouldn't be allowed into the country.

All those old companies that used to make high quality durable consumer products went bust because no one came back and bought another...like those old 'National' 2nd-gen colour TV's that are still going 40years on ?

The Chinese labour force is overdue for a payrise to keep up with their rampant inflation. If you're gunna buy chinese products...even the cheap nasty stuff, better do it sooner rather than later...everything's going to get expensive.

It will be good when Chinese workers start getting fair pay for their labours. It is incredibly unjust that people travel thousands of miles from their homes and families to work and live in factories for $7.00 a day making plastic crap for Walmart.
