with a lot of talk about ounces in silver and gold I would like to ask what is your target in ounces you are trying to achieve before you stop buying?
I realise the gold stackers will have their own targets but gold being a lot more to purchase , I am aiming this more at silver stackers,
and also realise that some will stack kilo,s
but when calculated this obviously gives a total in ounces
    regards

Hi Craig I am only a low income earner and I started to collect silver November last year.
I made a lot of mistakes and bought stuff I shouldnt have but managed to finally be rid of all the numis and other paraphanalia.
My near aim is to hold 15kg by December 31 this year after setting up my spreadsheet with my earnings etc.
I am currently at 7.2kg at the end of the 4th month and will purchase at least one more kilo before months end.
I try to allow a certain amount from my wages each week to donate to silver and if it leaves me short for the booze etc I do it tough til the next pay.
I am very happy with myself since I started in earnest and believe I am doing quite well on my meagre wages.
So there you go, 15kg is a hard target for my first year stacking but since I got the bug I think of the dollars I spend in terms of ounces ; a taxi to and from work each day is 1.5oz so now I walk, that equates to over 8oz per week!
If the spot price keeps going down I reckon I will easily exceed my goal
    Cheers Rick

do you buy your target in kilo bars only or is your 15 kilo target achieved by buying bars and rounds in mixed weights

Hi ego, I really do not care what you think but I would regard myself as a low income earner compared to when I worked up north in the mines and had couple of houses and all the fruit that goes with it
I no longer own a home
I no longer have a have wife and kids
I no longer have any bills except for rent
    I no longer own vehicles
I work 5 to 6 hours a day in hospitality as a casual labourer out of my trade
I get no other assistance whatsover except the occasional staffy at work

    Craig
I did have a lot of 1oz coins etc but now I only hold mainly 5, 10, 20, 1Kg bars and a couple of 5oz coins
    Cheers Rick

It is good to have a target but that target must be based on sound reasoning. If you have just pulled a number out of thin air then you might as well not have a target at all.

15kg a year sounds like a good target, but what is it based on? Why 15kg and not 16, or 14? 15 sounds good and we all like a round number. If we think that silver is massively underpriced and will soon be $100 an ounce then we don't need to stack that much to make a lot of fiat. If we think that there will be a global collapse of the dollar or that the banks are going to give the depositors a haircut then we might want to stack a whole lot higher.

I couldn't tell you my target, I couldn't even estimate how much I have in Gold silver or platinum stacked up around the place with the numis and the coins and the rounds and the bars and the unallocated and the stuff I have sitting on Maggie's shelf waiting for me to pull my finger out and pay for.

For me, stacking silver is a way of quarantining some of my disposable income from things like the shopping, car servicing, an extra round of drinks on holiday etc. All the little things that can add up.

It is the most boring thing on earth but I have started writing down each and every expenditure each day, money spent on petrol, parking meters, coffees etc. At the end of the week when I ask myself where has all my money gone... I just check the book. And I wonder if maybe having breakfast down the market with a couple of coffees is better than having an ounce of silver, I enjoyed it at the time but now it is gone.

    Hi jiz
I just worked out my weekly wages and my weekly NEED to spend all simple really.
    I came up with
    Aim is: To Hold 500oz 999 Silver by December 31 2014 (15.55kg)
    Equals 10oz per week

I have no end target and it depends a lot on the silver price. If the price drops to $10 then I'll just double the number of ounces I can buy each month. If the price doubles then I'll cut back.
