Maybe it's only limited for residents of Australia, would seem to be inline with there current marketing and sales strategy. 1for1
I too would rather the bulk of the markup go to the mint, but I wish the mint would have made this public from the start. However, that means there won't be more than a $5-6 drop, at most, in prices from the US dealers. This will definitely be an interesting next few weeks. Still don't see me buying 1oz silver horses at these prices. 1oz gold lunar horses are normally priced and some of those will likely end up in my corral.
When do you guys think the perth mint will sel out with these limits? Was it the same restrictions last year with snakes?
its said no stock available on the perth mint website, so does the bullion buying from the telephone.
anyone got suggestions for best place to buy in the US. I like Apmex customer service and quick shipping as well as an easy website to use but for my coins I want to lock in the best price I can on a roll this weekend or next week. any help from you vets in the USA would be great.
freeship50 That code is for Apmex for free shipping in US for orders over $50...if you want to thank me, send me a 1/2 oz horse...that's about break-even for you...actually about $3 ahead for you...
Damn, APMEX blows. I will not order individual coins from them again. It is shrink wrapped or nothing! Letter to APMEX: "Please send me an RMA for 4 of the 5 lousy perth mint horse coins that were sent to me. I hope to God that the 46 - 2002 kooks I just ordered, come in 2 x 20 mint wrapped rolls or else, I'm afraid I'll be sending those back too. I have a sneaking suspicion that your team goes through these coins to cherry pick the graded coins and sends out the 'poorer' quality coins to folks like me. For me to send back 4 out of the 5 is totally unacceptable. I'm losing confidence!!"
Haven't gotten the expected premium drop on the horses and maybe it doesn't happen. I can't remember how long it took the dragons to start dropping in price? Not worried about it as I don't care if I ever get any. Just wish I hadn't bought those dragon coins last month at $41 in anticipation of buying the horses. No horses = no lunar sets. Might do like AEL Steve does and sell the 6 coin sets on ebay. For more than a year, I awaited their release of the horse coins. The written descriptions showed the potential for the horse coins to be amazing. And then we get the slit eyed horses, surrounded by funky clouds and chinese lettered water ripples. To say I was disappointed is a great understatement. Kind of glad they are priced to high to invest in here in the US. If I had bought the horses, I was committed to the rest of the series 2 lunars. As of now, I am a free man. Only decision now is whether or not to keep my gold lunar sets going. The gold lunar horses are fairly priced in the US, but they don't seem to be selling well. I didn't keep up with the other gold lunar releases, but both the gold dragon and snake coins were available for over a year after the release. Since I expect gold to decline from here, I am in no hurry to buy them. And the gold lunar snake price dropped below the original issue price. Didn't track the initial gold dragon price, so I don't know how it performed.
Didn't track the initial gold dragon price, so I don't know how it performed. The retail price from The Perth Mint was $1803.80AUD not including postage. H
