Sad that the larger sized lunars like the 1kg Dragon dont attract the premium they deserve. You can pick up a 1kg bullion dragon for about $1,600 or a 1 oz for about $80. You can get a 2011 1kg rabbit for about $1,000 and a 1oz for about $35. So, the premium on the 1kg dragon over current silver coin spot is about 60% but the 1oz dragon is over 100%.
Things happened just another way around. Actually I picked three 1oz dragon recently with very low price (maybe only 20% over spot price) and I did pay a very big premium for that kg dragon.
This is insane!! http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI...692053&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_709wt_1139 2000 kilo diamond dragon worth more than $2000 now !!!
A Dragon & the year 2000 = Chinese love affair. If you think $2k is expensive just wait 2 years or so.
Lionfishcoin, that 1kg coin is a stunner. Can anyone shed some more light on this 1kg Lunar Dragon Diamond Eyes coin? * Mintage is 5,000, however apparently only 500 were reserved by the PM for sale to Aussies. So this implies a fair few were sold overseas, i.e. not many in Australia? http://www.australianstamp.com/Coin-Web/aust/bulldec/silver/2000lki2.htm * Is this coin considered more in demand than the unc or proof 1kg Lunar Dragon? * Any idea as to the going rate for one? Thanks!
I just found a Tangy source for this type of stuff, I could buy one of those 1kg lunar Dragons right at this moment for $1700 AU as a buy now, auction with four hrs to go has it at $1470 AU, Damn I wish I was not so poor.
