    Hi everyone!

I'm totally new to bullion, and looking to start my stack. There seems to be lots of competing information & deals out there, and Silver Stackers seems like a great place to start!

Looking forward to chatting with you guys - in particular any info re: the best bullion products for someone just starting out, and where to start sourcing them :)

    Cheers

    The Cap'n

Welcome CP, my advice. Buy now. Go in hard and then sit. It's a good time to buy (look at a ten year chart). I'd suggest you buy from a reputable dealer. Bars/coins..whatever ...just do it. Get precious metals but don't get too precious. This ain't rocket science. It's just 999Ag & AU.

    Welcome mate.

All I can suggest to you is to buy bars because they are as close to spot price as you can get. In the beginning I'd say its most important to not muck around with coins like I did in order to get the most ounces possible. Being attracted to coins too much will lessen your overall ounce count in my opinion.

    Good luck.

P.s what a great time to stuart stacking :)

    Thanks Salty Lemon!

I was thinking the same thing - start off with bars to get as close as possible to spot price and get as many oz as I can for my money to start (i.e. minimise the 'mark-up' portion of the cost etc). Also probably a safe place to start as I dont know a huge amount about coins or rounds and so would likely end up with a less-than-ideal investment (I know the basics, American Eagles, Maple Leaves etc).

So I'll start trying to find the best price I can reasonably get for silver bars - and start off my stack. Thanks again for the warm welcome :)

    Sincerely
    - Mr C. Planet

    Hi all

Just placed an order for some 10oz OPM silver bars with this website:

    https://www.bullionfoundry.com

Did a fair bit of research and it seems the best price around by a long way, provided you buy a few bars at once. The idea is that they post a deal and you put in your 'max' price for it. They set their prices as 'spot + x' and then they work out the final price at the end of the week. You only pay if they final price is under your max.

These guys seem pretty new - anybody know anything about them?

Also, I went for 10oz bar (basically because this is the deal the site had going, and it was the lowest markup I could find anywhere really).

What do people think about that size bar, as opposed to (say) 1oz?

Also (sorry to ) the ones I have gone for are an 'OPM' bar - I know there are other bar-types/brands etc out there but not sure if there is much difference in terms of resale, perceived value among investors etc? The way I look at it, it was a way to start adding oz at a cheap price.

What do people think are the best bars going? I'm sure opinions will differ?

Just got my OPMs for a good price (5 x 10oz bars) - arrived today. So I got a small base of silver to start :)

What should I buy next? Thinking of some ASE's? Should I go Australian product or international (US, Canada, Swiss etc)??

Do people diversify their stuff or just try to stack as many oz as cheaply as possible?

Cheap as possible ounces of recognised local product (more liquidity if you have to sell) - build a base stack - with a few pretties along the way to keep it interesting :)
