Hi all, just signed up a day or two ago. First, I just want to say I feel very sorry Everyone, for the loss of your friend Maggie. Though I never met her, I can see what a happy influence on the forum she was and still is. I started buying silver a few years ago when I had a small amount of money, decided to use it to buy some coins and then, a monster box of kookaburras which promptly took a HUGE dive in value... Luckily I don't usually spook easily , but ayayay....still waiting... Wish I'd known about ss before I made my many costly noob mistakes. Ah well, live and learn the hard way! Lately I've been buying mostly from Bullion Bourse (Perth Bullion) and find them really easy and pleasant to deal with. They're also the only dealer I know of (yet), who will send parcels to a Post Office Box address. In my small regional town, a door-to door courier delivery or even picking up from a depot eg Toll, just rings too many alarm bells and is out of the question. I have some questions about storage but will check in the other topics for answers first. Look forward to being around some like-minded people Cheers, Ruru
Welcome and enjoy the circus. I think you will enjoy it by the sounds of your intro. Don't be scared to ask questions but I suggest research potential answers first. Cheers B
Welcome to the forum You'll do well with PB, great company. Advice about storage from the FAQ's in my sig; Safes- http://forums.silverstackers.com/topic-42939-storage-advice-needed.html And why not safes- http://forums.silverstackers.com/topic-45933-home-safes-don-t.html Non-bank SDB's http://forums.silverstackers.com/topic-45500-safety-deposit-boxes-why-non-bank.html For 1oz Bullion- http://forums.silverstackers.com/topic-27698-i-m-a-new-stacker-how-do-i-store-my-1oz-bullions.html Unallocated is also an option- http://www.goldstackers.com.au/store/unallocated.html (think they post to PO boxes too) Basically don't keep it at home, keep you online identity as private as possible and try not to let people know you own precious metals. Simples!
Hi Ruru. Hope you enjoy the place. How long were you lurking? A quick tip that won't reveal too much... If you intend to trade on here it helps if people can at least see what State you are in.
Thanks to you all for the welcome, good to be here. Total newbie on a forum, so I really appreciate the links and tips you've given me and please excuse any inadvertent stuff-ups ! I'm sure I'll figure most things out...including how to properly put someone's comments into a reply... House, thanks for your links, I've already checked them out and great info, a bit of an eye-opener I must say! To answer a couple of questions: to Napthalene Man, ["Hi Ruru. Hope you enjoy the place. How long were you lurking? A quick tip that won't reveal too much... If you intend to trade on here it helps if people can at least see what State you are in."] Ruru:I fixed the location, QLD. I hadn't given much thought about trading, but might do after I find my way round the forum a bit. I was actually only lurking for a couple of days - I had heard of SilverStackers but didn't realize you're an Aussie -based group. I read a fair bit of info on the internet and that's how I eventually ended up here. (only took me a few years) Whinfell- ["Welcome. If you don't mind, which year are the kooks?"] Ruru: Thanks and no, I don't mind - they are 2009, and beautiful of course (just as well), though as finicky says , I'm sure kooks will come back eventually. Well thanks again, nice to meet some of you ss folks! Best wishes and 'see you round the traps' Cheers, Ruru
Nicest looking Kookaburra in my opinion! You would have no problems shifting them. Welcome to the forums!
