    Hi, guys.... and gals,

from the UK here, cold and miserable as poo but its home.

new to the whole silver thing... i have a minimum target i want to hit asap... nearly there...
i would like for my last piece to be a 10 dirham sliver coin... so if anyone has one... feel free to get in touch.

i want to give my future bride a wedding gift (meher) of 1190g of silver(38.2oz but id like to round it to 40oz)... historically significant,
i can explain why if anyone wants to know, but I'm well known for talking too much... so ill leave it there.

looking forward to meeting some stackers.

    .T

    Welcome!!
    4 nice 10oz'ers could be nice :)

Or a nice slow increasing sized set
    EX:
    1 Kilo coin,
    then a 5oz coin,
    then a 2oz coin,
    then 1oz coin
Which equals just a few decimals (+0.15) over 40oz :)

And would stack like a circular pyramid or "cake" if you will ;)
Get her a silver wedding CAKE as described above hahah :)!!!

lol nah, shed kill me... I'm kinda afraid of her... she's not really gonna appreciate normal bullion so i wanted to get her stuff from around the world, we are both the traveling type.
plus i kinda wanna put it in an oldytimes drawstring bag full of one oz'ers and just rattle it at her, all wide eyed n dopey looking. that'd be cute i think
but i do like the cake idea, but i think if silver went up a lot it would be hard to get rid of something like a kilo coin, no? plus it'll look a lot more impressive... in "singles".

    Welcome.

I wouldn't worry too much about a 1 kg being hard to shift if silver went up "a lot". There'll always be someone around who wants it and they move fairly quickly if priced to market.

But if it is a mehr, wouldn't it be her silver lol. You might need to buy 2, one for her and one for you :D

400 dirhams of 4g silver coins 80-90% pure, most likely drachmas (consensus puts 2.975g of .999 at the same amount) was the meher which was given to the prophet's (pbuh) wives, and accepted for his daughters meher, this is kind of like a dowry but its a security given as a gift. these women became known as the ummiat ul mutmineen, mothers of the believers, and they play a hugely significant role in cornerstone of Islam. looked up to in a big way.
Anyway a woman has the right to demand any amount she sees fit, its a condition of the marriage contract, although she can choose to forgive it or forgo asking for it.

i think it would be a poetic thing to give...

yeh, your right. but she's not very economically minded.... so i might just get to keep it, or at least get to look at it occasionally, if she lets me lol

the scarf'ed ones know their rights and i know she will out smart me if i try to take it, so i have to be very clever about it. I'm done for if she catches a whif of the plan. then ill have to get my own little stack brewing... lol.
in all seriousness, i would like to give her something that would be a real security, and i don't make very much, (primary school teacher :roll eyes:).
    it seems perfect...
plus i mean if she's religiously inclined, then how can she not go all googgley for a sentiment like that.

Welcome bro. I would suggest looking to the Malaysian or even Middle eastern markets for dirham or dinar coins.

My cousin received a 10dinar coin as part of her mahr. Will upload a PIC if I can find it. Makes for a really nice and meaningful mahr too. :)

Hi, most women are surprisingly unmoved by small numbers of small silver bars.

Now if you gave her 40 oz of wearable jewellery that would be a different matter.

1 kg of silver isn't really that much once you start stacking. I only have one but they are not as impressive as they sound, but way more impressive than a 1oz coin (Plus they are in metric and that really needs to be encouraged)

    Welcome to the forum.
