I have spent most of my adult life being educated- bachelor degrees, grad diplomas, master's degree, still going on my PhD thesis. I've travelled, married and come to find myself wondering where all my money has gone and noticing a lack of hobbies. My goal is to use my left over money- after bills, rent, etc. towards building a nice glittering collection- for the thrill of the hunt, the learning experience, the aesthetic appeal and for hopefully a future nest egg or special heirloom collection to pass down. Hopefully when I have some questions, I'll be lucky enough to have some of your opinions. Looking forward to getting to know this world and its members!
I think I just worked out where all your money went, and probably why you don't have any hobbies too. Sounds like you have a plan! Education is the next big bubble, well, after gold and silver and housing of course.
OK! Here come the questions and holding the breath for the opinions- plus crossing the fingers I don't totally disgrace myself. 1) Silver- I think I get it, am ready to dive in and get stacking. I know I can do a lot of reading but experience is going to be the best teacher here I think. One question here though and if there is a thread for this I missed I'm sorry; I like to be able to walk into a shop and walk out with an item. I see lots of places for bars and coins, but there is some mention of artistic rounds of silver, however I don't see these on the usual websites? 2) Gold- the pirate in me says coins. The experience in conserving a massive pile of ancient coins taught me enough about numismatics to tell me I don't like it- unless it's really really pretty. If there is a particularly pretty coin I'd like to see it, otherwise, I'm going to stick to bullion. 3) I had a little look at the jewellery section and was pretty intrigued. If someone out there wants to talk rubies with me, my soft spot for them would like to hear it. How am I doing?
oh and also...from some of the threads I've read, there seems to be some deep dark evil dealer that cannot be named but should be avoided- can someone PM me so i dont end up a death eater after harry potter?
