Hello fellow stackers! I joined this great forum a couple of weeks ago, have been reading it for about a month. This is a great place and turning out to be quite expensive In the last month I think I've spent about 5 grand on gold and silver A bit about me: I have always had interest in owning assets that increase in value over time, too bad silver didn't cross my mind earlier. I did buy 2 ounces of gold (around $550/oz ?) and 5 ounces of silver (around $17/oz ?) back in 2007, gave the silver as gifts and sold the gold in 2009. I'm planning on slowly increasing my stack on a monthly basis and if there is ever a decent drop then I'll pick a bit extra. I'm currently unemployed but have a few websites that keep me busy, looking for a job just seems like a waste of time I've already started to get my 4 year old niece hooked on it (silver), I told her I'll give her a coin every year on her birthday. She's very excited about that, she calls it her treasure and she thinks it's gold . Anyways, just thought I'd introduce myself and hoping to learn more and more... Thank you for your time
Welcome in buddy - I have a small collection of kinnuck musicians in my band whom I supply to - enjoy your stacking journey!
Thank you everyone! No surfing here dude, I don't even think we get waves here. Link to the official city website: http://vancouver.ca/
Hi! You didn't spend 5k on gold and silver, you merely swapped one form of money for another, no harm done! I am giving my niece a silver coin for birthdays and christmas, not sure what I am going to give her when the price of silver goes to the moon! Probably stop buying the new rounds and give her old ones instead. I should probably put a few different ones aside so she doesn't end up with a ton of 2008 Silver Eagles as she gets older! Shame you aren't in Salt Springs or Toronto, they have community currencies I wouldn't mind swapping some silver for!
I'll see if I can find some of the community currency you're talking about. I had never heard about it before but I'll do some research.
West Coast huh? I heard that it's pretty along there. One regret i've got is not saying yes to an offer to kayak from Canada to Alaska when i was 19. Damn that would have been fun.
Cheers! only if you are passing by of course. Salt Springs brought out a silver round in 2007 but mostly paper notes. The Torronto Dollar is just another Fiat attempt but it seems to be doing OK. I have some of the Canadian Tyre money that is apparently your second currency! Toronto Dollars can't be bought over the internet for some reason, I tried a few of the businesses which sell them but none replied, http://torontodollar.com/buy/index.php they look quite plain compared to other comunity currencies http://torontodollar.com/aboutus/newsamples.php The Salt Spring dollars are more of a cynical marketing ploy, those you can buy online, they look much incer http://saltspringdollars.com/about-us/specimens.html but who in their right mind is going to change $100 Canadian into a $100 in an alternate currency? Anyway over $180 for the set I am hoping the Australian dollar will climb or your currency to tank before I pick up a set. I hope for your sake it is the Aussie Dollar that climbs!
