When the southern area of NSW wanted to become it's own colony they petitioned the Queen and the Queen quite liked a colony named after her so she agreed much to the chargin of the New South Welshmen Later, the area's north of the Tweed River were angered at the poor treatment being meted out from Sydney. So they petitioned Her Majesty Queen Victoria to become a colony in their own right. Sydney thought that the last thing that Queen Victoria would want is another colony to worry about. What will this new colony be called, she asked. Why Queensland after yourself your majesty. Game set match That's my history lesson for the evening folks
