All the time. Only ever left a 10oz Dragon behind, the rest gets found when I move. Recovered this once perfect bar from a leather shoe after 8 months

Bicarb and soda did the job, as new after that which was surprising.

Never forgot where I put things, but I have opened the stash and found things I forgot I had.

"There's...and there's...and there's...what the f***? Where did that come from?"

Yeah, I used to bring items along to the coin club and then when I got back late from the meeting I would just put them somewhere safe until I could put them back in the albums where they came from.

Just found a whole load of rounds recently, I hadn't lost them as such, I wasn't even aware that they were not back in the albums, I just plain forgot about them.

My brother-in-law on the other hand stashed a load of banknotes within the pages of a book for safe keeping...

When I used to get a bit 'tired and emotional' I would put any notes in my wallet into some random book in the bookcase. The next morning when I had sobered up a tad I would never remember which book. After a while my kids worked out what I was doing and they got their pocket money by just shaking out a few books. Got a kindle now - not quite the same.

    I still use books!

If I get an uncirculated note I put it straight into a book so that it can't get creased or dirty.

The idea being that when I get home I will look up the prefix in the catalogue and see if I am rich!

If it is a keeper I will put it in an album and if it isn't, I will spend it. It sort of works, I was looking at how to change a fuse in my car and a banknote slipped out of the manual, as perfect as the day it went in.

I did buy a book on the Liberty Dollar from a second hand book dealer on eBay a while back. Crisp within the pages was a perfect condition Liberty Dollar Proof Note. I am not sure if it came with the book or whether someone was using the note as a book mark but it is now safe in an album.

There's a perth mint kilo somewhere in my room that I can't find. My room looks like a book hoarder had their room raided by the drug squad. I don't usually keep silver here but any thief that can find it deserves to keep it, he probably had to dig for a weeklike a coal miner to track it down.

I hate to think what other odds and ends are tucked in draws or on shelves.

Seems like those pesky perth mint kg bars get forgotten about easily! I've got a mate that uses his pm kg bar as a paperweight. Generally sits on top of his coffee machine!

There was a similar thread like this a many years ago and remember someone saying that they left a gold 1oz coin in a pillow case, forgot about it and they threw it out :(
