I have seen buyers pay premiums for hand poured bars. Why the difference in premiums from the machine bars? What are the best brands to get hand poured bars? What premiums can I expect to pay?

Any info on this subject is appreciated.

Maggie is your go to person for hand pours and what the premiums on them. I see them going for "around" 15$ over spot.

Depends who made them. There is a whole subset of collectors for Engelhard bars and the rare 3oz and 4oz hand poured varieties trade for multiples of spot.

As A.D. said depends who makes them and I personally buy mostly Engelhards bars, as for premiums when it comes to

Old Engelhard hand poured bars, I have seen 10oz bars go for over $1000 and 3oz $600 plus

As far as other hand poured bars that do not have a hallmark and are made in a backyard unless they are known for their

integrity and are honest, that you can count on .999 purity or more, then I would not buy them.

There are " reputable manufacturers" that are also plagued by replicas using other metals

Is there a premium for other bars aside from Engelhard made from other "reputable" manufacturers such as academy, Scottsdale, ainslie etc and what's the most desirable size?
