Wow! Just wow! So beautiful and exquisite.

    Congrats on the high grades!

I own modern Chinese medals with grades of 66 and 63 and still I cherish them.

Raw can be nice, but they always look better NGC-slabbed, IMO..

Thanks to everyone who commented. I was very pleased to get great grades on the antique medals as I was expecting real problems after seeing that the grades some had been given.

Every time I see a pic of the 2016 2 oz Panda Monkey reverse, I think "Kung-fu Panda"! Maybe I should be thinking Tai Chi Panda instead! :)

I've noticed that NGC, at least in the US, has been going a little easier on Chinese medals lately -- especially antiqued.

And now I've just jinxed myself, as I have a submission there right now.. :(

Ouch on your friend's Queen's Beast!

Was that purchased direct from the mint, in a capsule?

Hard to say for sure without it in front of me with 5x loupe in hand..

But looks like there are some rim issues on the reverse, and some marks on the Queen's face & neck.

Still seems a bit harsh, from what I can see.

    Bummer.. :(

Queen's Beast coins are having all sorts of quality problems including milk spots from what I hear.

It was not mine but the QB 2oz was in a capsule so it came direct from the mint.

The IOM one was not in plastic or its pouch so may have had handling issues I guess.

    Not necessarily..

Empty mint capsules have been floating around out there.. I'm guessing left over from the original coins getting graded.

And they might not even be the original owners putting another one in there which came from a tube, but simply selling them to others (who then do that in order to try to sell at a higher price).

IOW: At this point, if you see a Queen's Beast in a mint capsule on the secondary market, it doesn't necessarily mean it came direct from the mint like that, unfortunately..

NGC have a few of the #3 and #4 medals at the moment and they have been taking their time with them as I asked for them to be conserved then graded but it will not be long now.

next up will be 2 x #1 medal (the original) that I have waiting in the post office in Florida and 2 x #5 medal the 69 mintage antique one that will also receive the NGC treatment soon.

The long wait times can be very frustrating. What I have learned from submitting coins and medals to TPG's is that because the larger the order submitted, the (exponentially) longer the waiting time....I now submit more orders with less coins/medals in them....especially if I am submitting coins or medals for clients / friends. Also, I try to avoid mixing in the same order items like Chinese medals and modern numi coins from Europe for example.

This dragon and Phoenix series is very success. I only list a few in eBay. 90 % sold and we keep 10 % for selling in future.

40 pcs # 3 and 4 with Ngc. Only 30 pcs for sell in August.

The #5 antique left 2 or 3 for sell. I keep 5 pcs for collection.
