Guys, How do you tell if some coins you have are worth grading? Is there things you look for before sending it off to be graded? I will be getting a batch of 2013 pandas and wanted to know if i could get into the grading game
Possibly yes. You can buy MS70 2013 pandas on Feebay for ~US$80, plus postage. Or you can buy a bunch of 2013 pandas, (~$33 each), send them off for grading (~$20-25 each), plus postage both ways, then wait and hope that they get graded MS70. As Yennus has said elsewhere with regard to panda grading: The question is, silverzman, are you feeling lucky??
Oh, and see this thread ... http://forums.silverstackers.com/topic-16364-qa-getting-coins-graded.html
Thanks mate! One other question I had a look on eBay. There are some listed for 66 / 80 / 110 What would vary so much that the price is so different? They are all ms70
The more i research the more confused i am lol So the same quality of coin MS70 can be certified from the 4 big certification places, they have different lables on the slabs that will change the value of the coins...... Does anyone have a link to a website that will explain this in detail at all?
The different grading companies have different amounts of trust associated with them, hence different prices. ICG and ANACS are pretty much worthless as graders. NGC and PCGS are both reliable, but in American markets PCGS is considered to be a slightly tougher grader. So there is usually a bit of a premium for PCGS over NGC.
Like some have the great wall on the label, some have the panda label, some have blue early release label and it seems to affect the price what they have stuck to the slab. Just wondering what that was about.
Oh, that. If you submit coins early in the minting year, you can get the "Early release" label. I think you can get the label with the panda on it at any time for a fee. The labels have nothing to do with the quality of the coin, but some people will pay for the cool factor.
Ah so $70 for ms70 with a Great Wall label should be the same quality as a $110 early release panda label if they are from the same grading company?
