First it was global cooling / ice age last century, then it was the ozone layer, then it was global warming, and now climate change. There have probably been even more evolutions than that. Funny how it went from cooling to warming, and then no doubt they figured that 'change' is so much easier to defend than an absolute (like warming or cooling). Heraclitus: "Nothing endures but change" - or an alternative translation: "There is nothing permanent except change" Change is the one certainty in life. The climate will change - it's called weather. If the climate didn't change we wouldn't have seasons, El Nino, La Nina, ocean currents, tides, weather anomalies, droughts, floods, cyclones, tornadoes, etc. The very nature of climate is to change. That is why the term 'climate change' is such a copout. Anecdotal evidence of change in the climate is readily attributed to anything that differs from 'average' data. "Oh no, we had 10mm more rain this year than the average of the last decade, climate change, we need a tax, stat!" It is exactly as you said willrocks. It's not science, it is propaganda.
I'm not sure that the it was on the election agenda - as Americans are probably not in a position to welcome a new tax?
