About $110 billion worth of the NEW and newly printed $100 bills being quarantine due to printing error. http://news.yahoo.com/s/yblog_thelo...elookout/government-cant-print-money-properly I wonder why bother with the high tech counterfeitproof USD, I can't imagine anyone trying to counterfeit the devalued US dollar these days.
me! me !....i am happy to take the rejects!!!..........dont throw them out....!!!! my den needs wallpapering!!!!!!
The most expensive monopoly money ever printed. Probably the rising cotton price contribute to the higher cost of printing.
All bills cost the same from $1 to $1,000 to make. So that has to tell fiat lovers something about the value of money. As for the errors gee Aus has been printing these for years you think t hey would have asked one of their closest allies how to print money surely there must be a wikileak about them explaining the process. Being burned I wonder if any find their way into the numismatic market ?
I heard a rumour that the reason for the NAB "glitch" was that the bank shut down their ATM system deliberately after realizing that many of their their ATM's were partly filled with fake $50.00 bills, and they needed time to inspect the machines to get them out. Probably just a rumour, but an interesting one...
That's crap. I've spoken to mates working at NAB in IT. The public story is correct. No need to not process pays if the ATM network needs shutdown.
$120 million is the cost to print all the bills. Apparently these new bills cost about twice as much as previous bills to print. There are about 20% of the bills that folded during production, but these are randomly distributed amongst the bills. The problem now is how to sort them out...
If you look at the number of new bills already printed.... there's almost 4 for every US resident (of all ages) already printed in this batch. Tin foil wearers might suggest that these are a replacement currency, and the "errors" are just a reason to withhold release until the timing is correct. Would be interesting if there's a corresponding sunset announcement for existing $100 bills - countries/criminals that have actual hard currency tend not to hold unmarked tens and twenties. Good way to flush out cash hoarders as well during depreciation.
Good way to freak people out and get them to by Euros instead. If the U.S. stop redeeming old bills now, what would prevent them doing the same thing with these new ones as soon as they come up with a "more secure" note in 5 years time?
Yeah, I reckon that's the case, just don't want to sound like a crackpot for something I believe will come to pass Would be funny though if that WAS the endgame, and there genuinely were printing errors that "foiled" their plans!
RT Coverage of this issue. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Aq9BZSiUNs All they have to do is re-print another batch of bills this time add a ZERO in the bill to make it $1000. That way they can cover for the lost of cost of printing of the first batch. It is a monopoly money afterall.
