Hi, was just wondering if anyone can offer some suggestions on where I could sell some 1oz ABC cast 9999 bars face to face in Perth (maybe some 1kg Ainslie silvers also).

I had heaps of options on the East Coast, but now that I have moved West I seem to be fairly limited except for The Mint, I was just wanting a few more options and after some other recommendations.

I'm after the best price obviously so no "pawn" type places.

    Thanks.

List them here for f2f trade is my suggestion.
Why don't you want to post them to potential buyers? They pay postage.

I guess I could post, what is the most usual postage method used for something of this value?

Am I likely to get many takers trying to sell interstate on here, being as I just joined today and have no selling rep? I would imagine people would be pretty wary (rightly so) of depositing $1000 + into someones bank and hoping genuine silver/gold turns up - if it turns up?

What the others said, face to face meeting in Perth/WA
    OR
Send the item to someone with plenty of SS feedback FIRST, then on successful receipt, payment is made to you.

Thanks to the both of you!

What prices do most people try and sell for? Spot at the time of sale, a set price, or over spot (closer to dealer sell prices)?

I understand I just asked how long a piece of string was effectively haha, so just a general idea to help the newbie out.

Is there not really much other option as far as buy-back dealers go in Perth apart from The Mint? I kind of like the idea of being able to sell anytime during business hours, rather than advertising and waiting for a buyer...

Have a look at what other people sell them for online (e.g. W. Davis), and if you can better that price by a few dollars, you will probably find a buyer soon here.
    http://www.wdavis.com.au/live-price-list.html

e.g. if W Davis are selling for $1,632, and you advertised for say $1610-1620, you'd find a buyer quickly I would think.

You can get more than spot, so don't think that you need to sell for spot.

Basically - no, there is really just the mint for actual bullion dealers.

Otherwise perhaps you could ask Bullion Bourse, but they seem to deal in branded bullion as such. And, also they are not walk in anyway so it still wouldn't be ''on the spot exactly''. They might lock in a price on the phone but I really just see them as sellers not buyers, so don't know if they would be keen. Their details are in the sponsors area or above the menu.

Best is really to advertise on here and then sort out the details about postage and building the feedback.

There a mob in Freo that does the scrap trade-in game. No idea if they take bars. Perth Mint pays better and why not? They chuck the stuff in the back on the truck going back to their refinery after delivering product - transport costs, nil. Everyone else either does a deal with them or an interstate refiner, thus adding dollars to their costs.

Best bet? Do the face to face in Perth, build rep or as rbaggio suggested, send your items to someone with high positive trade feedback first. F-2-F has the advantage in that you get your fiat and the customer gets the goods, rather like the old captured spy exchange at checkpoint charlie!

You're all awesome, thanks so much for the advice/help.

Now I need to decide if I really want to part with any of my stash right now, or if thats just a crazy idea.

I'll pay 1 banana for every ounce of silver :D

You pay for the transport of the bananas :p

And I'm only talking about SCRAP GOLD ,he will take your coins if you really want to sell them

I'm only outing him here as Peter has been talking about this for weeks now & I've put a few members onto them already
YES Peter is a lazy so&so ,he doesn't want to put anything up in his new thingy ,as it say's never

    You've got to be kidding.
In Melbourne CBD I can choose from about 4 or so bullion dealers that will buy at spot or very close to it.
Plus 3 or 4 coin shops that can be talked into paying close to spot for something easy to sell like 1oz bars.

Then again, apart from Goldstackers, there is nobody in Melbourne that will sell you Perth Mint bullion product at decent prices.
You Perth stackers can buy from the Perth Mint direct and also have Bullion Bourse.

So I guess everything balances out :)
