Came across this site by chance and have been reading way too much of it over the last few days so i figured i should at least say hi. Purchasing physical precious metals is something that'd never really crossed my mind until recently so needless to say the only PM i currently own is they bit of white gold chained to my left ring finger. So i've been reading a bit on the pro's and con's of purchasing PM as an investment, as an ex chippy the only field of investment i've ever felt confident of making money in is property, this has worked well for us over the last 10 years (just going through multiple PPOR's, no pure investment properties) but being involved in a little accident has slowed me down a bit, hence i'm now looking at alternatives. Also been looking into to the stock market but at this stage the only things i'd feel safe in are the set n forget type index funds....and theres no fun in that. Anyway, looking into physical PM's I kind of see it as a hobby that 'theoretically' is free to play but 'potentially' could make a bit of coin. So now i just need to do a bit more reading and work out what i want to play with, where to buy, how to pick if something is fake etc... I went to 'Gold Stackers' during the week for a bit of a sticky beak and see what piqued my interest but it seemed like more of a private office than a store front, i didnt ring or anything as i was only there for a look and a chinwag, didnt want to waste anyones time, regardless without having yet had a close look, i'm thinking bullion over coins as you get more bang for ya buck (but what do i know?), a bit of everything probably wouldnt hurt though.... Welcome Trogga, Great to have you around. Do make another visit to Goldstackers. I am sure the team there would be happy to say hi and show you some gear. Also pop in to Peter Strich in the next building. Nice chap who has seen it all. Although mainly a numismatic shop he will chat with you about all things PM. Also there is the Silverstackers meeting in a few weeks time. Cheers for the warm welcome people. I had a read of the Melbourne Meet Up Thread, could be a goer...where abouts is it though? I understand the exact location is by invite only but what sort of region of Melbourne are we talkin? Also is it set up like a swap meet kind of thing or more just a bunch of blokes standin round talking shop? Apologies for all the Q's
