Hi, I would just like to introduce myself. I have recently decided to steer away from property. I also like the idea of tangible assets and that is why shares are not a current consideration (read: shares confuse me :| ). With the real possibility of a positive tax return this year, the glint of PM's has caught my eye (and the game of buying vintage watches as an investment has grown thin with the wife ) Quick browse of the website shows a wealth of generous knowledge! I'm looking forward to reading, learning and sharing. Kind regards, Burgo.
Hi House, My wife has gone back to university. I would continue with property since thats what we and our families know well but with a single income it's not as easy anymore. For too long I've taken for granted the double income no kids lifestyle Good luck with the property market. There are some great opportunities out there ATM! Burgo.
That's a valid reason, I'll accept it I know, I see them all the time! Working on obtaining residency and then I'll be able to take advantage of all the opportunities I'm currently watching pass by.
Welcome Notwithstanding the past cannot necessarily be seen as a predictor of the future; have you had a long, hard look at precious metals price charts?
Thank you all for the warm welcome. Ag-Man: Addictive definitely! I just visited the RA Mint and I felt like a kid in a glittering candy shop! Good thing I started reading some of the advice here otherwise I might have purchased some (paint tainted Ag) domed Southern Sky series coins! Swoydaz: Thank you. I have looked at the charts and I'm slowly familiarising myself with them. I'm not very good at predicting from charts, I just feel more comfortable with PM's than a high interest account with our savings. Realistically PM's will be part of our immediate 6 year plan (uni course and intern years) and then we will evaluate what we do with the collection. Initial impression is buy when apparently low (any metal) and hold onto it for as long as possible. When you say long, hard look at the charts... are you trying to help me see a trend? I'm sorry mate, I might be reading into it more than you meant or I've missed the point completely. Bare with me, you might need to be more direct and treat me like a 4 y.o, for me this field is brave new world! Cheers and thanks again for the warm welcoming. Burgo.
Cheers Burg0, and welcome again. No special message to be gleaned from my words. Simply saying the charts show what has happened, and the future I don't think we can truthfully predict. There have been some very long bearish periods, some long and flattish bull runs and a couple of mad "straight up and straight down" runs, which usually start and end pretty quickly. So no, not making any point in particular. Just wondering if you'd checked up on price history
Legend! Appreciate the offer. ATM just busy digesting the wealth of info on this site- sadly might be a victim of "paralysis by analysis"!
Found a good chart at Ainslie bullion website. Main page, to the right. You can enter dates up to 40 years back and compare silver to gold to the Australian dollar. Give that a go.
