Just curious .... could that be a copper spot? I have one on an older a 1oz .9999 gold blob. I've seen those spots on .9999 coins discussed on coin forums. Lots of different theories about them just like milk spots but they're certainly not quite as common.

Some threads talk about impurities or chem residue on dies that would not be an issue if coins air. But if quickly sealed, red spotting is possible. Gold buffaloes and pandas were cited as more prone to red spotting because they are sealed immediately after minting. I've also read people who say that there will always be that .01% of something else, e.g. copper residue that might redden with time. There are a couple you tube video showing how to remove red spots from pandas. One needs a very hot hand held mini torch. I researched red spotting before buying that 1 oz button hear at SS and figured I'd have a go with a torch but never got around to it. Interesting that the you tube videos were about removing red spots on pandas and here you have a red spotted panda as well.
