Vintage Argor SA Chiasso 10oz silver bar Argor SA was established in 1951 at Chiasso on the Swiss-Italian border. Establishing a precious metals refinery on a popular smuggling route probably wasn't the worst commercial decision ever, and the company was bought out by UBS in 1960. In 1986 it merged with Heraeus and the branding and logos were changed, so this bar is pre-1986 merger (I'd guess 1970s). $320 + postage of your choice
To clarify something that came up in a PM: no, this is not a generic bar and no, I won't be selling it for spot. It was made by an European LBMA refiner and it's really quite old and rare. The only other one I can find that's been sold recently is this one for USD$282 / AUD$371 and mine (soon to be someone else's) only has some dings befitting it's age rather than personal engravings like the one on eBay does. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1974-Argor-...ar-Ingot-Rare-and-free-shipping-/122340883578 Also, there's also no need to be rude when making inquiries. If you don't know what it is, I'm more than happy to tell you everything I can remember about the corporate histories of post-war European precious metals refiners (including the weird Dutch ones) so you can appreciate the historical context. If you don't know and don't care, that's fine, there's plenty of generic bars around at generic prices.
Probably not the best market for selling a niche item (to be honest, I'm not aware of it's significance either) and expecting much over spot--when there just isn't a great deal of interest. All the best in getting some value for it. For what it's worth --FREE BUMP. Cheers, PPSS
