Depends on how thick the coin is, if it's a really tiny one just use registered and send it as a "letter".

Express letter works too but slightly riskier since they might lose it.

I still use the satchels for 1 coin, I just wrap it up lots and lots of layers :p

prepaid registered envelopes are $3.50 each if you buy 10 at a time. They can carry up to 250g and 5mm thick, but being paper I always seal using strong packing tape to give it some strength.

I was pming fishball today regarding the minimum spend of $10 required if you buy using the auspost online shop link provided in the guide. However if you buy from auspost's ebay shop then you don't need to spend a minimum of $10. I was able to just buy a 4x5 pack of 500g flat-rate satchels which is only $3.00 with free postage.

That's pretty funny - I bought last night and just ended up getting about 70 satchels to make up the $10

Just an update I dropped a parcel in a Red Box on a Saturday (WA) and it took until Friday to be delivered to Sydney so just be aware some of these shipping times can take a while, also it wasn't until it was on board with the driver to be delivered that it actually showed up in the tracking system. So not sure if you just put it in a Red Post box was the cause of the delay with tracking details ?

The next one I do I may drop over the counter just to see what happens with the tracking. Overall great system thanks again to Fishball :)

I dropped a 500g satchel into a red box yesterday and until now no events have shown up on the tracking site.

It'll update with a "scheduled for delivery today" and most likely the "Delivered to M FISHBALL" or whatever when its being delivered.

On rare occasions they don't even scan the bloody thing at all and tracking shows nothing even when the package is delivered.

In order to get the "Lodged at <blah> PO" you have to go in and make them scan it by saying "I want a lodgement receipt".

Wouldn't worry about it though, no events doesn't mean there is anything wrong.

neglecting the delivery time, is flat rate satchel with tracking and signature as safe as platinum express with tracking and signature?

in regard to creative description (metal samples), has anyone lost any package (touch wood) and been successful with insurance claim?

crap my first time using this and i stuffed up the printing - thought i was printing to file but the file is no good. now i have to call them in the morning
the annoying thing about this is it doesnt save the label to your account anywhere - you must print before closing the popup or no record of label.

thanks for the guide it'll be cool once i get used to it

it's not perfect yet, had to call a few times.

But quite convenient nonetheless .... if only they can improve their system.

I had to send some heavier items and FB kindly showed a cheaper option for this as well, within Australia anyway.

The link for parcels are - http://auspost.ebay.com.au/flat-rate-box

Don't worry about the ebay stuff you can send via Click and Send no problems. When I worked out to send it normally was around $42 this was only $10.50 so huge savings, so to keep it one place I thought I would add this tip to the postage guide. Thanks again Fishball for all your help and this is a great resource.

Unfortunately Australia Post thinks their prices are not ripoff enough and will be raising them yet again in April.

I have highlighted the parts which I think will affect us stackers who post metals.

It may be a good idea for members who trade regularly to load up on platinum express bags now before they hike the price.

thanks FB for the update, I thought stackers may like to know there are discounts for bulk plat bags of each type i.e. 500g or 3kg

    1-9 bags normal price
    10-99 bags 5% discount
    100+ bags 10%

Maybe we should organise a group buy on plat bags FB? 10 people, 10 bags each
