Weight: 15.55 grams (240.0 grains). Size: 31.50 mm (diameter). Composition: .925 Silver Mintage: Struck for Masterpieces in Silver Set only - Canberra. Mintmarks: Captain Cook Bicentenary. thank you
web site didn't say if they were let out to play by them selves. am i missing the rest of a set? how sad people broke up the sets. thats just not playing nice.
The 15.55 grams quoted here is incorrect (that's the weight of the cupro-nickel coins) The .925 (Sterling) silver coins from this set have a nominal mass of 18 grams And yes, you are missing the rest of a set.. Sadly, far too many of the Masterpieces sets have been broken up, & the pieces sold off individually
sweet thats 2.45 grams more than stated. to bad iv hit my silver quota for this week. else id hunt down that set.
Cool, I have that set and the 1988 one tucked away in a SDB somewhere but never realised the numbered ingot in the '89 was solid silver too so looks like I've got a little extra silver I wasn't aware of too. I assume the ingot is .925 too - anyone know for sure? Also anyone know it's weight? Nuff
I assume the ingot is .925 too - anyone know for sure? Well, we assume that it is.. McDonald says it is I guess we would have to ask the RAM for a definitive answer.. Also anyone know it's weight? Approx. 23.5 grams.. The one I weighed went 23.57 gm, you can expect slight variations between individual examples..
Many thanks for that Dan Unda, don't have a McDonald here (apart from Ronald in town that is ). Heavier than I would have expected so an even nicer surprise Nuff
These should help ya.... http://forums.silverstackers.com/topic-11352-masterpieces-in-silver-definitive-asw-list.html http://forums.silverstackers.com/topic-2851-masterpieces-in-silver-weight-source.html
Excellent info, I have the paperwork for the sets somewhere but I'm sure I don't remember it saying very much about the ingot for the '89 although it was years ago so that saves me rooting it out Nuff
