Insert, I mean the seller received money fraudulently since he scammed the buyer.

Yes, GM can go to the cops and do all paperworks.. and a few ppl have traded with him and done F2F... but this will take 6 mths perhaps before GM gets his money back.. I think Carlos has done this before and only way to get back to him is to do the properly to really put him behind bars...

Meanwhile people need to block trades with Carloc for good. If he has done this before he is a conman that should be avoided at all costs.

Just a reminder that threads in the trading forums are automatically deleted one month after the last post. So unless people keep posting in this thread, it will disappear at some stage.

Or you could ask the mods to move it to another forum such as the Fakes & Counterfeits forum, and it will hang around for others to see in future -> https://www.silverstackers.com/forums/index.php?forums/fakes-counterfeits.21/

GM and Yuripuka, a little info to chase it up.

This is a civil matter so you can make a civil complaint and go through the small claims tribunal.

-Get screens shots of the sales thread as proof he intentionally sold fake bars claiming to be genuine.

-Get further tests to confirm they are fake with proof.

-Talk with the admin to gather personal info on Carloc including the link between the person and the username, as much detail as possible.

-Contact his bank and file a report with them regarding the issue.

-File a report with the police. Ask their advice on how to follow up, most likely with Perth Mint. MAKE SURE YOU GET A REFERENCE NUMBER (ensure they actually make a report).

-Talk to a small claims laywer to write a formal letter to Carlo explaining that you will sue him if he doesn't repay. They will also help you get all the info to link Carloc to the actual person through silverstackers. (May cost a few hundred though).

-Contact Perth Mint explaining what has happened with all details etc including police report, this is fraud of their product and they should take it quite seriously. They most likely will take it up with the police as he is selling more than one, this will then become a CRIMINAL matter in which the police can press charges. Fraud is not taken lightly in Australia.

-The fact he knowingly on sold fake bars it is fraud even if he unknowingly bought them. And the proof is in his sales thread.

-He may come to his senses and repay before it gets too serious. Also he might go into a payment plan.

Hope this information helps. I think Perth Mint need to be notified although they may have the bars confiscated from the police if they choose to prosecute.

When I sell pored gold/silver to a dealer they do an initial xrf scan but they don't buy based on that one.
when I agree with the sale they drill half way through the bars and scan in the holes, the bigger the bar the more holes.
not sure how it works with assay cards but scanning the surface only shows the surface.

I always wondered that. I think there is a different viewpoint for self pours.

As far as I know the sigma metalytic scans to a depth of 2mm.

Also to add to my above comment.
Getting one on eBay delivered from the states is an easy cost effective insurance tool for people.
No Australian supplier can match those prices, and when you add in a good eBay code it's good value.
I have been meaning to get one but after this it is a certainty.

    4 and 6mm respectfully I believe.

    I'll check my manual.

EDIT: You were correct. The "basic" PMV with the Bullion wand will penetrate 2mm. I got confused as I had just read up on the new Pro unit, and it can penetrate further

For basic small certicards up to 1oz would there be any need to penetrate past 2mm either side given the production of the fakes?
As far as I know they are not going to have a tiny sliver of non PM sandwiched between 2mm real PM either side.
If the above is true the sigma metalytics is the best bang for the buck.

Also is there any other advantages with the newer versions are from the extended range?
I am more qurious for myself as I'm buying one soon.

Well if you u look around you can get one for $760-$780 delivered (eBay and a 10% code) which is pretty good compared to others I have seen for sale. If you are able wait for a 20% code it's a steal
