This was my first gold bar purchase and I'm worried that I got screwed over. Is it normal for Perth-mint bars to have such poor quality? The kangaroos are not even close being inside the borders, from both sides. The packaging is not the most common one, so I cannot find much info on it. Could someone tell me the exact weight of it? Please help. https://postimg.cc/2q6m52Hh https://postimg.cc/KKZjDP08 https://postimg.cc/ykyzXwt0 https://postimg.cc/phFw97Kh https://postimg.cc/LnTrZjgT
The black assay cards have QC issues, bought them from dealers like that too. This one looks ok from your photos but if in doubt just get it XRF'd at a dealer/jeweller. Bullion Now have a bunch of fake/real assay card comparisons on their YouTube channel. Take a look at them for better info
Personally the too tail coming over the edging this much would worry me too. Head to a bullion store and get is zapped to check it.
Perth Mint is a joke when it comes to their minted bar packaging. So much inconsistencies and changes, no one seems to know what is legit and what is fake. Best to just take it out of the package and have it scanned.
Hi, I had a look ay your images, I'm not an expert but I could only refer to some of my bars from the Perth Mint and compare to yours. I noticed the roo's tail is over the border which looks strange to me... best to have it XRF'ed. I did one time ago try to buy some bars off gumtree then very quickly realised when he said I could have a discount if i took more, that is was too good to be true, I quickly dismissed buying and just bought from reputable dealers, trust me, aint no one selling their previous metals for big discounts under spot imo. Edit : Then again, I just re looked at the one of my bars in the image, it does appear that the roo is slightly out of border at the bottom too. Hmmm
Black assay cards notorious for border runs. Some pretty bad too. Not sure if this has been rectified by PM. At one stage entire trays at a dealer looked like that. As always any suspicion should be followed up by XRF at minimum, hopefully before you've handed over cash
