Eurozone debt web: Who owes what to whom?
The circle below shows the gross external, or foreign, debt of some of the main players in the eurozone as well as other big world economies. The arrows show how much money is owed by each country to banks in other nations. The arrows point from the debtor to the creditor and are proportional to the money owed as of the end of June 2011. The colours attributed to countries are a rough guide to how much trouble each economy is in

    Note US debt.

    Very interesting link

Note that the US debt per GDP and per Capita, when compared to others in the infomatic isn't that bad.

One comment - Why doesn't Ireland just pull an Iceland? Debt that high isn't repayable. Oh yeah, that's right. Ireland was sold out to the Bankers by their politicians.

Do they still count money two indebted nations owe to eachother? This seems idiotic, both paying interest on debts that cancel eachother out.. or am I missing something?

    Cheers 4 that P ;)

Actually I'm surprised that the UK doesn't owe (apparently according to this) more - but then again Britland only recently finished paying back its loans from the US for WW2... That's just astonishing... 117k for every head of population... I'm gobsmacked... ( http://www.cobdencentre.org/2010/08/the-uk-is-broke/ ) One thing to say is that the diagram doesn't take into account interest payments on sums owed whichever way... RESET BUTTON ANYONE?!? (The big red one with CN on it is no longer working...) ;) x

As there are so many Aussies on this forum I am pretty sure this link has been posted before so apologies if you have seen this, but in true Blue style these guys explain the Euro crisis without the bs which is reserved for the financial media.

It is also one of my favourite clips to remind me why I am buying PMs.
