So I had an exciting day today, and managed to hunt down one of the following.

    1989 PROOF 1oz Panda - Mintage: 25,000

I am truly blessed beyond words... once again all thanks and praise to my dear Friend and Comforter who made this possible.

I really really like it heaps. :)

There are a few available in the USA, but this is the first I've seen in Australian hands :)

Anyone interested in bidding for one if I can get another 1989 PROOF 1oz Panda?

    If you list one.

Are the "proofs" actual proofs like the Perth Mint produce for example?

Or are they just the best coins from the bullion mintage?

Well, according to the Panda bible "Proofs: Coins struck onto specially prepared planchets from specially prepared dies. Proofs are often struck more than once to increase their level of detail."
