AS Quoted "EBay Australia is celebrating their 15th anniversary in Australia and will be holding a 15% off event for 48 hours starting at 12am Sunday, September 14. Might be a good time to pick up some cheap bullion if sellers dont put up the prices or EBAY exclude bullion purchases Also might be a good time for sellers here on the boards to list and sell to other members with a link to there product
Wonder how it will work. Say for example I buy and item for $1,000. Do I only need to pay $850 and ebay covers the other $150? Hopefully it doesn't exclude bullion.
Yes, that's how it will work if the item qualifies for the 15% off (which may in fact be everything). .
They usually put a limit on it. They will give you 15 per cent off up to $700 purchase limit. There is usually some sort of catch to it but better than paying full price.
What stops people from scamming ebay. For Example: they each prearrange to buy eachothers stuff (which could be nothing) Jim lists something for $100 lisa buys it for $85 Jim gets the $100 and lisa gives ebay $85 lisa list an item for $100 jim buys it for $85 lisa gets the $100 and jim gives ebay $85 they both make $15 each but could be alot more on a larger scale.
That is true. and then there are those paypal fees. Normally payment must be through Paypal on these sales so the make extra money in fees.
Does not appear to me that they made much at all. The purpose of my post was to advise members of an upcoming 15 % off the price of bullion. There are plenty of sellers at the moment that are pricing bullion down due to the current state of bullion pricing A $250 10 oz bar of silver presently listed at $250 is priced down by $37.50. 15 percent off means that spot is closer
Sorry for going off topic. I don't think you completely understood the post anyway because of my bad arranging/wording. Thanks for letting us know btw i have already added 7 items to my watch list.
We are happy to help out anyone who wants to take up this offer. Please note we need to allow 10% in fees so you would typically receive a 5% discount on after using eBay coupon. This would drop by 1.5% (capped at $250) if you are using bank deposit to pay Typically our eBay listing have further margin to avoid constant shifting of prices due to spot movements so we would need to work out any deals/pricing specifically for this prmotion, either individually or in a group. If you email us at [email protected] with the items and quantites requested we can be sure to put these up on eBay for this promotion with only actual fees incurred added to our regular prices.
All that work for dealer/seller for a 5% saving? Remembering that the total saving is capped at $100. Unless dealer/seller going to re-adjust the pricing with this weekend closing price, I think the saving is not worth the time? Especially if you are local and can pick up the item? PS: At the first 15% sales, I did purchase an item from a Melbourne shop, and it is almost impossible to get the postage refunded, as at the checkout it automatically choose postage, without pick up option.
Yes, it is not viable from our side, but we would do this as a service for anyone interested, some people will be happy to do this to get the $100 savings, and last time it was on there were many buyers, but as we didn't know there was a promotion we did not really participate. Hey, what are weekends for anyway! We will put up a few popular products at the relevant price and advertise in this thread, so there is something available without having to do too much work. If you have any suggestions just list them here. Ben.
PBC, I have looked on yours like in the previous sales. I would be eye'ing on 1/10 Gold Panda 2014 or 1/10 Gold Horse at $186, which after discount would be $158 for a good premium 1/10 gold coin posted. Because the $666 cap, I would personally be looking at 1/20, 1/10, 1/4, 1/2 oz gold and roll of 20 kook/koalat, in order to maximise the discount. If you readjust the price to reflect the closing spot price on this weekend, I wouldn't be suprised if you get a spike in sales? maybe
eBay sales on bullion are pretty abysmal these days due to the new beefed up eBay fees. (9.9%, up from 7% in Australia this year for regular seller due to bullion being moved to "collectibles" category in Australia.) There was a little spike last time, partly due to spot increase on the Friday before the promo and us not updating eBay pricing. I will update pricing on a range of products including any listed in this thread.
Payment must be made via PayPal for discount to apply. Ben does the 10% fees cover both your eBay fees and PayPal fees?
Dont put the items in as bullion category. And I think it's safe to presume spot will be $15.00 by the weekend.
Yes, it could be a back the truck up sale, if we get another hit tonight, although AUDUSD exchange rate is keeping Aussie silver price up a bit. eBay have checking algorithms to ensure that goods are placed in the right category, but really not worth the time messing around with them. Unfortuantely it's not really a good venue for standard bullion due to the fees, however it can be great for picking up those rare items..
