Well, people are buying 'em.. http://www.ebay.com/itm/331754434878 http://www.ebay.com/itm/331754434985 Nice distraction so people don't otherwise gobble up the good stuff that I like to buy.. But, to each his/her own..
Saw these earlier today - $70 USD over spot for the 1oz gold. Ouch. Seller is CNT, the largest private bullion distributor in the US. They have the market weight to pull an issue like this off, I wouldn't be fooled by the "Limited number available" marketing, the number of items they would have had to have ordered to get the mints to issue these would have been mind boggling.
Here is the reason - ebay will guarantee the identity of its own product and flood the auction with fakes of other mints
I guess these peeps wanted to be buying these bars in the low (serial) numbers, 3-digits... It'll wear of its novelty soon... My guess.
Eh, there will always be a bit of a following of consumer-branded bullion. Some of it's not half-bad. Admittedly, I've got a few pieces, from I recall the late '70s / early '80s.. Then again, the word "silver" was part of their slogan at that time -- so it's not *too* much of a stretch. Anyway, expect these eBay bars to be flipped at some time in the future.. You know, on eBay. It's the revenue-gift that keeps on giving!
Only $395 USD! http://www.ebay.com/itm/FIRST-EVER-eBay-RCM-10oz-9999-Fine-in-Assay-Silver-Bar-/361474571017
how to fuck off your resellers that have to charge 13% premium just to sell on ebay? Thats $220 for a current oz without any profit margin added
That's actually kind of interesting that eBay is investing into eBay branded bullion. First of all, the decision makers at the top tier of eBay are smart folks. I would guess that the selling of coins and pm's on eBay is a huge money maker for eBay....there's probably more coins sold on eBay than by any other after market entity. Most, if not all of the major bullion and coin dealers sell on eBay too. So eBay is just following the money. I do wonder how much $$ worth of coins and bullion are sold on eBay in an average month? Must be a huge amount. .
Time for a "support your local bullion dealer that actually pays corporate tax in your country" campaign? :/
OOOHHH how sad, the sheep will lap them up too. What next, ebay branded clothing line, hardware, electrical??? Maybe we should approach facebook and do a facebook round! Amazon could jump in on the act, shit woolworths should too with their own 'Select' brand. Alibaba could brand a heap of 100mills fakes! Support your local dealers that not only pay Tax in your country but also supply employment opportunity and give to the wider community.
