Hi all, newbie here, just started collecting er, I mean ,Stacking , Silver n Gold. I have made a few purchases online via a dealer here in Brisbane and have made a few purchases via Ebay. I found this site a couple of days ago. Ive only been buying since the middle of Jan this year, but its addictive and im hooked. I have seen deals that look too good to be true,eg. Morgans that are "valued "at thousands but only sell for a few bucks, normally under 1 hundred. What the go with these Morgans? Fake? I know about " buyer beware " but if the coins are fake the cops could become involved , right? also, Is it safe to buy from US sites? They often seem cheaper than the local dealers Where does one go in Brisbane to buy good PM ? Cheers Stephen
Most of the Morgans I've seen on eBay that fit that description are simply overgraded, but unrecognised or third rate grading companies. Unless a slab is from NGC or PCGS, I don't believe the rating. Also seen some slabbed Morgans on eBay that have been polished to look brilliant uncirculated.

The Morgan Dollars have fallen victim to Chinese counterfeiting operations like the Pandas have. You'd want to be super careful about making sure of their authenticity before buying. http://coins.about.com/od/worldcoins/ig/Chinese-Counterfeiting-Ring/Chinese-Fake-Coin-Minting.htm
Welcome to the forum oz stig. As a "stacker" I try to only buy silver for the silver content... that means that I try not to pay more than silver content value. I do own a few rare coins that have high numismatic value buy I only paid pennies on the dollar for them. All of them are more than 70 years old, US currency. Now "collectors" will buy silver coins for their numismatic value... this is only my opinion. If you buy on Ebay... just be careful, make sure you KNOW EXACTLY what you are bidding on, also make sure they will ship to you.
