I don't smoke so had no idea the cost but saw someone buying a pack of smokes at the supermarket the other day and it cost $20 for a single pack.

Smoke a pack a day and that's 10 kilos of silver going up in smoke every year !

No way I would substitute beer for soft drink. At least beer has the goodness of hops & yeast. Both very beneficial to your health.

As far as soft drink & diabetes. Diabetes is but one of the potential risks. Bone disease from the soda alone & as for coke. The acid fux up your teeth big time. Plenty of info if you google it.

Having said all this. Moderation is the key. If you can't control your drink, then don't drink at all. Very hard to do when your out with mates so I applaud you guys that choose to give it up. Legends! ;)

Back to the cost. I'll be soon makin my home brew again. No way is the cost worth it today. Plus, I avoid the arsenic put into big brands nowadays used to kill off the yeast so they can bottle sooner & reduce production time.....

P.S. That chemical nightmare Clawhammer mentioned is a worry though....oiewww:0
