I have on hand 12 lengths ( 12 inches) of Matthew Garett White Gold wire .040" round. My questions relates to it's metallurgy and the current type of gold solder to for jeweelle use in its fabrication for jewellery. My Matthew Garrett product is in its original packaging, and the original Matthew Garrett 'Tag" is attached to the wire.

This gold wire was used in Dentistry due to its tensile properties. I am interested in now using it for white gold jewellery , preferably in making classical antique designed gold chains, but need to know the best type of gold solder to use. I presume that being from the 1960's it is an alloy of gold with nickel, so the choice of solder may be critical.

I will be grateful for all useful comments.
