I was just wondering what is difference between stacking 1966 50c and PreDecimals in terms of bullion value alone as I have noticed that the 1966 50c seem to sell for a better premium than the PreDecimals. I have also noticed in these forums that 1966 50c sell for 13, that makes it 39oz in comparison with Predecimals at spot taking a much longer while to move. Is there a better way to exchange fiat for the maximum amount of bullion ounces other than the 50c and PreDecimals? Any thoughts?
... They're a lot easier to identify than pre and post. Less knowledge. Don't need to remember or look at years.
Checking my trusty Silver Stackers calculator.... It shows 50c Rounds have an Actual Silver Weight of 0.3416 oz, compared to the Pre Decimal Florins ASW of 0.3364 oz....bigger coin - more silver
That was my immediate thought. They're easy to recognise, there's only one year to remember and I think it's pretty much common knowledge that three of them roughly equal one ounce of pure silver. The predecimals have multiple years, multiple sizes/weights, differing silver contents and certain years have greater numismatic value. How many people do you think have as much knowledge about the predecimals as they do about the 1966 50c pieces? I certainly don't, praise be to the SS calculator! I guess it just comes down to the 50's being less of a hassle for most people.
Yeah but do you know off hand the quatities of each that make up an ounce? If you honestly do, then I'm impressed. I bet as the price of silver goes up though, the predecimals will become more favourable than they are currently. Silver is silver but a higher price is a motivator to look deeper into a source.
Hi 3 Pre 1946 Florins to an oz,like the 50c. Easy. Pre-3 florins,6 shillings,12 sixpences,24 threepences to an oz of silver
Okay, I'm impressed. I suppose it does seem simple enough to remember, I guess it's just trying to figure the post-46s as well. Particularly in mixed lots. Maybe I'm just too lazy.
