I get it but it just seems like over kill to tape up the tube like that. If they need to go crazy with the tape I do like the idea of wrapping in plastic wrap, it is very cheap and doesn't take much. If they do a once or twice over and then tape the hell out of that it would be fine since you could take it off without screwing up the seal. Or they could use a tiny box that barely fits the tube and secure that. Anything but directly on the product.

Slide the tubes into used toilet paper rolls, fold over the top & bottom and voila!
a packaged tube in environmentally friendly packaging.

    What exactly is 'sticky tape'?
A few dealers I buy from wrap cellofane around tube(s). It doesn't 'stick', although the tension and the thin material does hold things closely together, and makes it less easy to find the 'beginning/end' of the wrap. But it's just some seconds more so no real problem. And it's cheap.

Make sure the top doesn't pop off during shipping. Wrap the tube with chains a few times around, then tie it up with steel cables. Finally seal up the whole thing in concrete, and ship the slab to customer. There's no such thing as overkill when it comes to protecting the lid.

Also called "Durex" in Victoria I believe but the 'double entendre' is probably not for this thread.

Yes, certainly, the double entendre is known to be painful to some!

There are better ways to protect a shipment - try shrink-wrapping them to avoid "spillage".

There is no excuse for such amateur packaging of any product. In the USA, most consumer goods are packaged with "heat-shrink wrap". Shrink-wrap keeps the product air-tight, water-tight, tamper-evident, and very professional-looking. If the consumer wants to remove the wrapping, it is snapped off quickly and easily, without any damage to the original product.

It is a simple matter to order the plastic sleeves in any size dimensions. They can even be custom-made with full-color graphics, for an even more professional finish. The sleeves are placed around the item, and a quick pass through a heat tunnel (or the use of a hair-dryer will accomplish the same result). The material instantly shrinks to conform to the shape of the item, and requires no additional packaging to protect the item.

It's a cheap and easy solution to this problem of mint tubes, and makes the distributor appear much more professional and smart. All the metals dealers should adopt the practice, as the use of "sticky -tape" is just childish and unprofessional.

Agree, but doesn't always works on all products. Also have you done them before?
May benefit some but not always.
Especially those Kooks, Lunars rolls. Heat shrink may stick to the original plastic wrap.

If it means anything, stuff I've received previously from Bullion Bourse (and the other site sponsors) has always been well packaged (with quick delivery) and I haven't had the issue of the opening post.

So that's sellotape, so not the one I ment, that thin plastic foil they use to wrap around food/cheese, that works very well to wrap coin tubes, and anything, together. It doesn't do so by being sticky / glue, but purely by being so thin and stretched. For ex, my last purchase had 5 tubes held together by this plastic foil, in 1 row, so not even a bundle. You could take one end of the 5 tubes and hold them all 5 horizontal. Just 2-3 layers in every direction, and removing is just finding the end of the wrap, then unwrap it, or just cut it. And this plastic foil is plain cheap so can't be a reason to not use. It also needs little of it.

You need some brains to do it and a little sense of customer service ... Looks like there is one out there who lacks both

Yeah just sounds like plastic wrap. It is thin enough, stretches, and sticks to itself. I have my generic silver tubes wrapped in it right now and ship many things on ebay wrapped in it because it keeps it all together without damaging it and is cheap. When I worked in retail stores we used giant rolls of plastic wrap everyday to secure pallets.
