Could we have a chatbox - IRC plugin or like?.. With private messaging. It would be good for making deals and just saying hi to people you see lurking at the bottom of the page. And I think it should be visible to members only.

I'll throw an ounce worth in here if I may? I can see there's a very compelling reason to want a lot of discussion on the forums themselves, for SEO and the actual retention of discussion and participation/readability of those who are not on line at the time of the discussion. Having attended the recent SydneyStackers meeting, I can also attest to the fact that being able to "chat live" with folks enhances the interaction of those in the community. Of course, any chat that may occur (IRC or Vent) style is still limited, and isn't as good as an actual in-person gathering - but I wonder if a regular "live chat" session, perhaps weekly or fortnightly, for an hour or two, and promoted as a "live meeting" here on the forums wouldn't be a bad idea? May serve as an opportunity for folks to interact in a different manner, more instantaneous, and spark some interesting thoughts/debate/commentary. All up to the boss, of course, just throwing the idea out there for what it's worth
