Hi guys. Im new to all this and I have 10K I want to spend. What do you recommend I purchase?
Im buying from Ainslee bullion in Brisbane. They have recommended I get 2 kilo bags of 1966 50c rounds, 2 oz of gold and the rest in 10 oz silver bars. Does this sound like the best option?
I await your opinions, any experienced guidance would be appreciated
    Ant

Sounds ok to me, but wait for more suggestions.

You can also let us know what the prices are on the kilo bags, gold and 10 oz bars.

    :)

    Welcome to the forum too

I'm no expert, but that doesn't seem like a terrible option - you've got a mix of fractional, with 10oz bars - reasonably low premium, and then about 1/3 in gold for diversification.

    I would personally buy 6 x 1kg bars and 2 x 1oz gold ingots or coins, forget the 1966 50's IMO

1oz x 20 for around $750 is smart.. maybe instead of some 50's... see site sponsors

Id get some 1/4 ounce gold or 1/2s if you can with a low premium.

Best bet.. just buy incrementally.. dollar cost average.. depending on if your all in here (id buy little by little over a few weeks) just cos the learning curve is so steep.. we all make really average decisions when we are new to an industry.

    Learn more then buy more..

If I were starting out, I'd get:

    1oz Gold bars x 2
    1oz Platinum bars x 2
    1kg Silver bars x 3
    1oz Silver coins x 3 (depending on left-over cash)

...mainly to be diversified and to save on the premiums paid for smaller denominations.

    +1 on dicing the platinum.

With only 10k invested, you don't really want 1/5th or 2/5ths of it to be platinum.

I have platinum in my stack and all that and think it's awesome but still ... not for starting out.

    Hey Antnest,
There are some good suggestions here. I like the mix that you were offered butif it were me I'd drop the kilo bags and put into bars. My thoughts are that the 50c is useful in trading to make up the numbers so buy a few as you go along but don't go too heavy.

Hiho suggested the kilo bar which would save you on premiums. I reckon get at least one just for your own interest and to save on storage space.

Not sure about the 2 x 1 oz Gold and 6 x 1 kg bars.

Thats similar to keeping $10k in $1.7k bills and $1k bills ( they dont exist but for the sake of an argument ).

You should have some 10 oz bars/coins and some 1 oz coins too.

    How about this

    4 Sovereigns
    7 Half Sovereigns
    3 x 1 kg silver bars
    6 x 10 oz silver bars
    Rest in 50 Cent pieces.

Using the Ainslie number and site, this what i reckon...

    2x1oz gold @$1744
    1x1/2oz gold @$897
    3x1kg silver @$896
    8x10oz silver @$355
Total = $9913 (all rounded down)
or substitute a 10 oz for the best price on a 10oz silver dragon for your interest
    (see sponsors)
But this may be heavy in gold

I would go with 3 x 1oz gold bullion, 10oz dragons/10oz bars (or a single 100 oz bar to create a stronger foundation for the addiction)
    Gold- 5232
    100oz- 3370
    Total of 8600
    Remainder on 10oz dragons.
As some above have said, nothing wrong with 50c as it's a personal thing... 10oz bars are more liquid than 100oz and again it's a personal issue. I bought my first 100oz bar from Ainslie, loved it... But sold it a while back for $1900 when spot was much lower. While you have the cash I would go with the 100oz'er, depending on your wage you can buy a 10oz bar every week/fortnight and slowly build your stack. But saving up for a 100oz'er will take longer.

Why do you want to buy PM's?

Are you protecting your wealth for retirement? Have you seen the recent gains and want your ride on the bull? Do you believe that printing more and more paper money will crash the dollar and you need real money to feed your family come SHTF?

Is this 10K all in now... set and forget? or is this the beginning of your stack?

Lots of us stack PM's for various reasons, the right ratios to build your personal stack depend on your personal reasons for stacking.

My suggestion would be to think of your stack as three bank accounts.

1 Kilo Bars and Gold 1oz coins/bars = Term deposit, harder to access buy gives you best return for investment/exposure to PM's/lowest premiums.

2 10oz bars and Fractional gold = Savings account, you have to transfer funds to use it but easier to access than term investment/Modest premiums

3 1 oz silver/ round 50's/pre dec = everyday transaction account. If the SHTF this can be usable for day to day transactions. Easy access for trade/higher premiums but practical.

This three account system is how I am viewing my stack and what to purchase next. My view on why I need silver is always changing as I learn more here, and as the world geopolitical situation and economic outlook evolves.
