Can anyone confirm if this is dodgy or not?

    Hi All,

Extremely new to the whole PM thing and looking on Ebay, I have been seeing various gold coins from sellers with 0 feedback that seem to be attracting real bids.
I know that everyone has to start somewhere, but this guy (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1-quarte...00645618227?pt=AU_Bullion&hash=item2eb7692a33) has 3 1/4 ounce gold pandas (1982?) that look real enough, but really, what do I know?

The skeptic in me says NOT! but I thought I'd go to the guru's.

Any thoughts? Flames for being dumb accepted gracefully (much experience at being dumb, but learning, always learning ;))

    Regards

    Gavburg

Some gentle advice - AVOID eBay if you're new to PMs. So many members on here have been burnt by fakes or plated bars etc before they had enough experience to be familiar with what's good and what's shonky. Too much money at stake to try and save a few bucks at auction when there's so much more additional risk.

Better off buying Pandas from a member on here, or sticking to actual dealers with their own online presence, rather than run the gauntlet of the eBay fraudsters. Especially Pandas.

Thanks for the good advice one and all,

My very first purchase of silver was a beautiful and cheap 100 mills silver bar... so that horse is well bolted.

That lesson learnt, I have been quite careful about what I buy and have picked up a reasonable amount of knowledge on the mainly Aust coins that I have been buying - so far managing to average < spot including postage, mainly on $10 state coins and similar.
Next is to start swapping them around for possibly bullion coins or trading up for fractional gold, but I am happy for this to take a while yet.

Many thanks again for the wise words.

    Gavburg

There are fake NGC/PCGS out there. Some noobs can't tell the difference so it's not always safe.

There was an eBay sell whose initials was "PC" and he graded/slabbed coins himself and called it PCGS.

Needless to say they were...fake/dodgy etc.

I couldn't tell you much about the coins, but that listing seller is bogus in so many ways. No Fb, no previous sales, basic listing targeted to newbs with a shonky pic etc ..

Just looking at his other listings, he's got the balls to to put 3 gold coins on .99c auction with free post, but wont let go of his camera strap for less than $30 + $10 postage ..?
