Do you buy the coin or the holder?

The coin he so cherishes that he paid $150 for could, in a few weeks, develop spots as well. Therefore his point is rather moot in many cases because at the point of purchase, all 3 coins may have had no spots.

I think that it goes without say that if you are really wanting to buy 1 of 2 slabbed coins which are priced the same and which are graded exactly the same and one has spots all over it and the other not (and everything else about the quality of the coins being equal), that anyone in their right mind would select the one without spots. And yet, that still guarantees nadda because that coin could develop spots as well.

So that makes slabbing after grading pointless and thus makes slabbing a total waste money :)

    Not at all.

Just because there's a possibility that any mishandled or poorly produced coin will develop heavy, noticeable spotting, doesn't mean it will. There's exceptions to almost everything but the norm with slabbed coins is that if they are stored properly and the coin in the slab wasn't mishandled or poorly produced, then there's little chance that the coin inside will look like the example the guy on the video has.

The grading of a slabbed coin is only half of the benefit you can get from buying a slabbed coin...the other part is the authentication of the coin in the slab. In fact, even the guy in the video praises what NGC and PCGS have done for buyers of coins since their inception.

The more well made fakes that come into the marketplace, the more relied upon reputable TPG's will become. You can take that statement to the bank right now.
