You wouldn't be able to get bullion grade metal from the mines even if they could sell it to you. The miners can only recover a gold/silver amalgam called dore' from the ore. Most of the gold mines sell their unrefined metal directly to the Perth Mint after doing an assay on the gold content. Furthermore, the individual mines operate as an independant business entity even if having a majority owner. There are few mines these days aren't joint ventures...so there is no single owner operator. So you couldn't say, ring up BHP or Rio Tinto and ask if you could buy silver from "X" Mine. They'd tell you you'd have to contact "X" Mines Limited (a joint venture between Rio/BHP & Yakazuko heavy industrial concern)...and they'd tell you to go to the Perth Mint
plus, unless you have far deeper pockets than I, the mining companies would be unlikely to engage you with the quantities you are after. I think if you had tens of millions to spend they would be interested.
You can buy directly from prospectors. Try looking on ebay. Most only list small amounts but if you can establish a good buyer/seller relationship you may be able to purchase larger sizes and quantities. As always be diligent and do your homework.
Hill End Gold did sell gold blobs to shareholders who had x number of shares and above. I think they had an association with ABC Sydney - but i'm testing the memory on this one.
Yes was concerned about determining what you were buying if you could buy it. Will stick to the Perth mint and authorised buyers for sure. No point taking the risk when you are a first time investor.

So to buy one of these blobs you need to fork out $270 (that is 10,000 x share price of $0.027)? Seems like a great way to sell their shares... but I like the blobs! Shiny
