I bought the 10 oz SilverTowne Buffalo silver bar on ebay. I have attached a picture of it. It does look like a silver bar and weighs 10.03 troy ounces. The thing that concerns me is that the bar has two brown lines crossing each other. You can see the lines in the picture although they sort of look like shadows. Is this indicative of any impurities? Will they be able to test the purity of this bar if I take it to a pawn shop?

Well, it is Easter time...."Blessed are the bullion refiners". See if the cross disappears post Sunday.

In all seriousness, someone may have had something packed on it and the plastic has reacted to leave the mark (??). There's a good thread on silver coin cleaning in you search the forum...and subject to the plastic sleeve being open. Otherwise, an XRF tester will tell you in seconds. Any decent buyer of PM's would have one.

Huh. Never thought about the plastic. I'll take the bar for testing just for peace of mind. I just probably won't be able to do it anytime soon due to the pandemic.

Possibly seller had several stacked and held together with a couple of rubber bands before packaging separately. I've seen tarnished bars before due to this.
