Any stackers plan on going to this? Is there a 'bargains to be had' element to it, or is it all numismatics?

Brisbane Table Tennis Centre, 86 Green Terrace, Windsor

Never been to an ANDA gig before.

    Thanks.

Where will it be held at ?

Was it in West End last few times?

I may show up on the 22nd on sunday.

Not sure about bargains available but a few world coins priced at spot + a small premium definately.
There will be gold coins there too.
You can ask the dealer and he will take out the 50 Oro Pesos gold coin and give it to you to feel its weight of around 1.20 oz agw for about 10 secs before you put it back
    :)

Windsor - nice name of the suburb to hold a coin show in :)

Well, im budgeting myself in at this stage.
If anything pops up and unable to come than will let everyone know.

miss our talks behind the stalls :)
now after the 'bubble' it should be even more fun.

They will be having the "mint your own' coin press again this year after a year or two without it. $10 to push a button and stamp a mint mark on a dollar coin. You get to keep the dollar coin though.

I went a couple of years ago, paid $3 to push the same button, didn't buy anything else, it was a bit meh! Good for picking up supplies but you can get everything online for less. Good for people who want to spend an hour peering at a coin through a magnifying glass looking for minute defects, otherwise not that great. Undoubtably there will be bargains to be had but I doubt I will get down there.

Having said that I flipped a few cheap banknotes from the last one so it might pay for itself.

The Perth Mint will have a stall and there is an ounce of silver with a painting of a turtle on it for only $98, a show special apparently.

The words 'world coins priced at spot + a small premium' will almost certainly get me there...

And from my experience this is what happens ..

assuming the show starts at 9:00 am

9:00 am *** everyone says hello to the dealers, the dealers have smiles on their faces, ( especially the guy selling stamps only :p ) and you take a seat
    and start sifting
9:30 am *** all the silver world coins which are priced at SPOT are gonsky
10:00 am *** the silver coins with premiums of 2-5% are a goner too
    12:00 am *** numismatics only ***

    :)

Is anyone able to pick up a silver $1 Capital Bridge Series "Story Bridge" coin for me?

I assume it will be 13.66g 999 and priced at either $50 or $65. I'll require postage to Canberra too please.

Think me and Blockhead'll be going, need to grab one of those bridge coins myself so will swipe another for you. Hopefully the premium won't be ridiculous...

That looks like a nice set all in all, not a massive fan of frosted coins but it'll do.

Hopefully if I've got the capital raised by then, I'll be having a 2009 dreaming set too :)

I actually managed to get away from the house (it was raining so the yard work was put on hold). I went down there but parking was non existant anywhere near the show. Had to park in the local shopping centre, my wife decided it was too far from the show to even bother walking there so that was anopther $10 saved.

The show was ok, plenty of dealers there, I didn't manage to sell anything to them but I did manage to buy a ton of stuff but I do not have the patience to sift through boxes of banknotes, I would rather go online and do a search and find a selection of them immediately.

The dealers are good for asking questions to and getting some advice on their products but if you already know what you want then you can get everything online cheaper and quicker without paying $10 on the door.

Tons of Gold and Silver though, buying and selling, Kangaroos for $50, 1966 50 cents for $12 upwards, Gold coins from around the world. Didn't buy any but if you wanted an instant collection you could get one pretty easily, all you need is money!

Met quite a few coin club members, and probably bumped into a few stackers down there as well, hard to tell but there were some shifty looking types there.

    I was nowhere near! :D

Had a hectic one myself, was planning to go but the missus took ill, spent the better part of the weekend playing nurse...

Did anyone score the Bridge coin? Keen to get hold of one...

they're for sale now at most coin dealers for 65. if you factor in the ten bucks admission you woulda paid 60 anyway.

I saw the Perth anda version of this - they're 1 oz frosted on a card, exactly the same as the kangarooos but in bridge form. 65 for a non proof oz of Ag is a bit rich for my tastes but they're low mintage etc etc. All boils down to how much you like bridges i guess. Will they become the next Redback Spider of coins about public infrastructure? who can say..

Edit: The Story bridge IS the largest steel cantilever bridge in the southern hemisphere so factor that into your purchasing decision making process...

I didn't collect any coins but I nearly collected a few pedestrians while driving through the area....sheesh, what a traffic nightmare!

They held a "modeling expo" there a few years back..... I thought I might take a look in and try and pick up a 'looker'... unfortunately it was a "scale modelling expo" :(
