Remember auctions are all about mind games, stare at other bidders and bare your teeth a lot.

Always bring a supply of pencils, make sure you look at the competition, wait until you catch their eyes and then slowly snap the pencil in front of them.

If someone starts bidding on an item you want, sit next to them, snap a few more pencils.

And finally, if you really want an item, don't be afraid to cry, sympathetic auctioneers will often let you have it even if you aren't the highest bidder.

Actually the only real advice I have is to remember to add about 17% on top of the final price and make sure you have the money on you, or check to see how they accept payment and how soon after the auction you have to pay it.

Also check to see how much extra they add onto the auction price for their fees etc.

I haven't been but quite a few in the coin club have and there can be some good bargains to be had in the more obscure areas. they also put ridiculous prices on some items to get the punters in!

Do not tell 3000 potential competition you are expecting a bargain.

Over priced and that 17.5% add on fee killed most things. I came away with nothing :(
    Good for a look.
