Hi.. My ounce bar came today. first thing I did was to weight it ... I. Thought an ounce should weight 31.5g but my scales say its 30.9 Thoughts? I bought it from Thegoldbullion.co.uk Dave.
LOL - so was mine! 1 x 1kg from Ainslies and I bought an ASE at the same time as I had a little cash left over
Nice try ladybird! Although coins do look good I'm in purely for investment so will carry on getting a bar every now and then. Terri prefers coins so may treat her once in a while ;-) The bar is smaller than it looks online...lotta dosh for something that small. Next investment is a nice gold bar 10g which will be even smaller ! Dave
Welcome to the stackers forum. If you get hooked you will spend many hours in front of your PC and you will be tracking spot like a bird of prey looking for its next meal. Yup, you have to start from the base line and looking at silver prices right now, you are lucky as you haven't piled into PMs at the peaks last year. I hope you are happy at the price you paid for entry into this addictive hobby (?). Be glad you are not in the UK as we have a 20% tax to pay for all silver which our government grabs with open arms.
Hey, We are based in the UK. It would be nice to not have the 20%.!!! Our government deals with PM's so wisely! David
^^^ oh yes, our last few governments have contained some of the wisest ever politicians, who have collectively come up with some of the wisest ever policies, which in turn was made this country an economic powerhouse that is the envy of the world. FYI: I bought some ngc graded silver coins from America recently (moderncoinmart), it was all properly declared (parcel value & contents) and HMRC charged my about 9% VAT when it hit the UK border. I still can't figure out how they arrived at their figure?? Think I'll try it again and see what happens.
I like both coins & bars. Have far more 1oz and 10oz coins than bars though. It shouldn't matter much though. Prettier things will attract a slight premium. To me, prettier things are things without Liz's head on them. I like variety in any silver collection; too much of the same thing = boring.
